Campingaz 63633 Ceramic Briquettes Pack of 40

Have a normal gas BBQ. Don't like the fact I have to keep the gas adjusted to the meat being BBQ'd. So I removed the baffle plates, added a wire mess BBQ grill and then these bad boys. Now I run the gas at max to heat the ceramic coals and then turn the gas to minimum purely to maintain the heat & Bob's your uncle I have a more conventional BBQ. The heat spread, and cooking function is far more even and consistent. Quality is thus far brilliant. Easy to install once and forget. 1 box was exactly the right amount of 'coals' I needed to cover the grill area. Over a few uses I will have recovered the cost in saved gas. I feel the food has a better flavour than just cooking with the gas. I love the added bonus of the BBQ smell which is an added bonus.

I decided to convert my messy gas only BBQ to duel fuel. This has the bonus of meat juices and fats evaporating off the ceramic briquettes rather than filling the drip/catch tray. Although more expensive than standard briquettes, the ceramic type have a much longer lifespan so are actually more cost effective if you use your BBQ often. I had to search around for a useable/functional grill to place over the gas burner bars to support the ceramic briquettes, and conquered that hurdle fairly quickly. Order placed and 'Prime' delivery was superfast as always, however I have given only 4 stars as a few of the ceramic briquettes were found to be damaged on delivery and unusable. I beleive this to be due to the way they are packaged and then subjected to man-handling during the various manufacturer to distributor to supplier to customer processes. I have now used the BBQ several times and found the heat distribution to be more even, reducing flash flames to a minimum (almost no skin burnt sausages!!) and better than Lava rock which I have used on other BBQ's in the past. Each briquette is around 2" square so be carefull not to under estimate the amount you will need or you may then be waiting an additional order and delivery. I guessed at two boxes but needed three. Only time will tell how long they last but at this stage I would certainly recommend the Campingaz briquettes. Well thats another BBQ done, now time for a quick clean ready for the next! (see pics)

Quality seems really good and good value for money too. Nice flavour from the food so very suitable for my gas barbecue.

I've converted my gas BBQ from one south flame deflectors (that can cause horrendous flare-ups) to a flat bed of these briquettes. The cooking experience was far superior to any before the conversion. The family even commented that the taste and eveness of cooking was vastly improved. Highly recommended.

Don’t like them. I only had enough for one side of my 3 burner grill so put lava rocks on the other half which I had left over, the ceramic briquettes got much too hot for me compared to the lava rocks at the same setting I had to keep taking the food off and move it to the lava rock side which was keeping the heat just right. Also it still had multiple flare ups when cooking steaks or pork strips or lamb chops etc. Will buy more lava rocks......shame

Compact and very easy to install. Efficient heating and great coverage. Good value for money.

As expected - Look good but have only had one BBQ since setting them up.

Jo testato le Mattonelle in ceramica con una bistecca alla fiorentina... Le ritengo superiori alla pietra lavica

c'est mieux que les pierres de lave car les briquettes sont lisses et donc plus facile a nettoyé. un peu d'huile de coude et elles sont réutilisables a vie

Die Hitze verteilt sich über die Briketts gut und das Grillgut wird gleichmäßig "gebräunt". Ob ein Unterschied zu Lavasteinen besteht, kann ich nicht sagen, da ich noch nicht mit Lavasteinen gegrillt habe. Finde die Briketts optisch schön, auch wenn sie etwas gräulich werden durch das Grillen. Auf alle Fälle empfehlenswert.
