Works great
My soundbar was pretty quiet when connected to my monitor's headphone connector. Guessing the headphone connector was only amplifying audio based on headphones being plugged in, and the amp from the soundbar just wasn't getting it loud enough. Tried a few preamps, to help boost the volume, but they all produced some hum/buzz. This works perfect for extracting audio before it gets to the display device. No hum, no buzz, nice and loud, no delay on the video signal to the display.

Exactly what I needed.
This Extractor is exactly what I needed to solve my audio issues. My older tv does not have digital audio output to go to my Yamaha head unit. This extractor not only solved that issue, but even within the digital audio issue, it solved a second, unexpected issue as well. Some apps on my AppleTV use a different digital audio signal and it drops some audio in 5.1. This extractor has both a digital optical audio Out, as well as a 2.1 Stereo Output that I also connected to my Head unit. With one flick of the selector switch on this unit and I can toggle between 5.1 or 2.1 stereo to fix the dropped audio issue with the certain Apps. (So far only the main ESPN broadcast and South Park, have had this issue for me, but I’ve read now other Apps and units like Firestick etc., may experience similar issues with sound bars or other audio devices). This extractor solved two issues I didn’t even know I had. With a little tinkering and experimentation I was able to dial this unit in and unlock the great surround-sound that my older TV wasn’t able to do. Highly recommended for similar issues.

Excellent product with unique features for the price.
There are many hdmi decoders, but this one is the only unit I found that provides full spectrum hdmi passthrough, an optical outlet, RCA outputs and a headphone jack with a level control. I also has 4 indicators for HD, HDMI, etc. Housed in a cast aluminum case, with excellent instructions with full specs., this is much more like the professional electronic equipment that I have worked with than a consumer product. It's 90dn noise floor and .1% distortion are honest numbers that I believe it meets. You need a usb charger, but the unit is cheap for all you get and works great!

Extracts audio, but at what cost?
This device works as advertised, in that it does pull the audio from an HDMI signal, and convert it into analog audio through RCA jacks, which is how I'm using it. However, the level of noise coming from the device when there's no input audio signal is frankly impressive, plus it occasionally drops audio when the levels go too low. Think of the hissing noise from a cheap LP after all the tracks have played, but before you pull the stylus off the record, except it's very digital sounding. It's just cheaply made, and although it works, I'm looking for an alternative that doesn't sound like I've left a radio tuned to static in the background. Update: Tried playing discs with 5.1 and 7.1 audio tracks on them, and it's routing rear speaker signals to the two outputs. Any 5.1 or 7.1 (or presumably anything more complicated than 2 channel audio) signal renders this thing absolutely useless. While it is amusing to watch movies with zero dialogue and occasional sound effects for a minute or two, it gets old quickly. This is a surprising limitation, but drops it from 3 stars to 1 for me.

Excellent Sound, but audio lag
This device works very well at diverting audio to an amplifier or powered speaker. The sound quality is excellent. The 2-channel and 5.1-channel options are welcome, especially in a product at this price point. There is, however, a slight but noticeable lag between the signal following the HDMI path and the one going through RCA or optical connections. I do not have a precise measurement, but it sounds like something in the 10- to 50- millisecond range. It may not be enough to impact viewing experience when this is feeding the only audio source, but when both audio stack and TV speakers are both active it is quite noticeable. I would recommend this adapter for a home theater environment, even a 2.1, where TV speakers are not part of the active setup.

Great piece of technology - well engineered. - A keeper
This is a great little piece of kit. It does exactly what it says it should do. It extracts audio from HDMI signal cable. I've used it on several gigs to pull high quality sound to feed a PA system. If you need this kind of tool, this one is a performer. I will say that don't expect it to handle a loss of HDMI signalling and then a reapplication of the signalling. The unit need to be recycled to detect the audio traffic. There is a convenient led indicator to let you know if audio signalling is present on each HDMI interface. Right now I have it pulling audio from a mini-MAC HDMI interface to feed it to a 5.1 sound system. Works great! You wont be disappointed.

Does the job.
Does the job. I'm using it to capture audio from a portable bluray player and listen to movies through headphones. It zeros any noise interference I was having before when I would plug into the player directly. Works perfectly. The volume knob is convenient too.

Works, but cuts out every time you touch it
It does do its job, but after about 2 weeks of use, every time you touch it or adjust the volume knob, it makes a loud pop/hiss and disconnects for a few seconds. It also has a fair amount of background noise/hum--it's not super noticeable right now for me, but if it gets worse as indicated by some other reviews, it would make this pretty unusable.

Xbox
I’ve had two Xbox series X’s and two controllers, even headphones; and always I hear crackling when I have wired headphones connected to a controller. Somewhere in my house is interference, and this device solves those issues. Instead just plug your headphones in and use the dedicated volume knob to adjust the volume. No need to touch the tv’s volume, the tv could be at zero volume.

Extrator de Áudio e vídeo genérico.
O aparelho funcionou algumas horas e depois queimou. Pode ser que eu tenha usado uma fonte incompatível, uma vez que o extrator não vem com fonte, ou os componentes internos são ruins.

Works perfectly couldn't be happier
Works great for my needed purpose. My monitor doesn't have speakers so my passthrough capture card wouldn't get any audio. This device allowed me to select HDMI as an audio output device. The included volume knob is nice to have, as i've connected a pair of monitor headphones so I can ensure my captured audio matches source output. Highly recommend
