    Laughter called best medicine

When Kat Timpf promoted “You Can’t Joke About That” on “The Five” and she said, in effect that she hopes to believe in God again some day, intrigue made me decide this might be the first celebrity book I would buy. Plus, it was about one of the things I fervently believe in free speech and fear the ongoing trend to squelch it--the endless trend of true believers (sincere or bullying, left or right) to quiet their perceived heresies. I am glad I did. Chapter Five, that is centered with the comedy-tragedy of her escape from death and life with a colostomy makes the book worthwhile to me. In part because of working with the perils of have the bag while working in a nursing home. But more important the ability to be able to laugh as part of enduring hard times, even terminal illness. The line that stuck : “Everyone says a terminal illness is not a situation for jokes, except most of the people with terminal illness and the experts who study them.” My life experience testifies to this. One surprise in reading her book was no reference to Saturday Review writer-editor Norman Cousins and his 1981 seminal work on laughter and recovery “Anatomy of an Illness: As Perceived by the Patient - Reflections on Healing and Regeneration.” Timpf’s book was a strange blend of her comic impulses and her serious look at a modern trend of the inability of letting a bad joke be a joke. She calls comedy her religion, but her comic theology of forgiveness approximates the Catholic faith that she nominally lays aside. There many confessional, comedic, and biographical sub themes, that sometimes in cold Kindle print don’t come of as humorous as the warm live stand-up style she presents them, but I am glad I read the book.

    As Good As Expected

I loved this book. I watch Kat on Gutfeld and when I started watching that show I really liked her, so I knew I had to order this book. I enjoyed the book because I learned a lot about her and what she has dealt with and also that this whole politically correct crap the WOKE environment is pushing is, in my opinion, nothing but junk. I love comedians and they should not be afraid to joke about life, in general, and that has always been part of what watching a comedian is about. Laughing at all types of things about society and ourselves. It was a great read and I recommend it to anyone who likes to read and enjoys some real-life truth about society today.

Wanna book that makes you realize you are not crazy?

3/4 of the way through and I want to go ahead and throw in my two cents. This book is not for everybody (super libertarian). If you get offended easy this book might actually permanently injure you. I have always liked being around people that don't agree with me as it helps sharpen my own views when I approach a debate. Not trying to change anybody's mind but have had mine changed. This poor girl has been through some serious crap and the skinny little thing kept right on punching! Don't always agree with her, her book or her premise on some things but like I said, that's good (in a Forrest Gump voice). One of the books I read slower than average because I want to absorb things and I don't want it to end. An example of her different thinking, for he 30th birthday party she had a casket made that fit her small size, arrived in a hearse for her funeral, and she invited her Dad (that she loves dearly)!
