BLACK+DECKER does it again...
...with a product that actually makes easy work of a job that looks daunting. As with all such devices it is important to be sure you are safety conscious at all times as this is a powerful and robust chainsaw which, treated properly, will tackle most garden jobs with ease.It arrives in a long box and needs just a small amount of assembly - mainly in regard to fitting the chain of the chainsaw. The instructions are possibly a bit vague and could be improved but once you take time to read them and please do take your time it suddenly becomes quite obvious how it all goes together. It is mains powered so you will need an extension lead and you will need some oil [mine didn't have any]. You will need to have oil for ongoing use and the suggested oil is Oregon PJ A6225CS-XJ which is available from Amazon amongst others. You do need to top up the oil reservoir and make sure the chain itself is oiled too.As advised in the instructions you do need to keep a check on the 'chain' tension and this is easily done with a flat bladed screwdriver. Proper chain tension will make the chainsaw cutting action much better and will cut faster. [It is an important thing to attend to as the instructions point out].The pole is extendable and is 'counterbalanced' by the included shoulder strap that clips onto the pole. The saw weighs in at around 4.5kg but once lifted and counterbalanced the weight does not hinder movement. With the pole extended to full length you have 2.7Mtrs of pole and saw blade plus your height etc. There are many reviews regarding the cutting ability in terms of how big a tree it can tackle so I won't add to the debate here other than to say it has taken on every branch and trunk I have asked of it.Regular checks on the oil reservoir and the chain tension should see this BLACK+DECKER Corded Pole Saw give good service for many years to come.

Good Value Pole Saw
To start off, I have a bit of a tool fetish as a tradesman. In fact, I cant remember the last time a paid less than £100 for a corded/cordless tool. However, I only needed something to help me reach some large tree branches in my garden which would allow me to fell the trunk using a chainsaw. So after reading some reviews I decided to give this one a go.Pro's- Easy to assemble, took me less that 10 minutes out of the box.- Easy to use, great quick release action on the pole extension- Surprisingly not that heavy, even when fully extended. I didn't use the shoulder strap once.- Will cut through thick logs with relative ease (see pic).- And paying £79.99 for it, great value for moneyCon's- Make sure to buy chain oil! I forgot myself so had to pop to my local screwfix.- If you are planning on cutting some thicker branches, like myself, and have a few to do. It might be worth buying a spare blade as the one supplied doesn't last that long. I used an Oregon Chain blade from Amazon, it was £11.15 and worth every penny.- Keep an eye on the chain oil level. It is a very shallow sump and runs out of oil quicker than you would expect.Pointers to Remember (If your new to using this kind of equipment)- After a good few cuts, make sure to take the side plate off and clean out all the sawdust. It will help with oiling the blade and prolonging life.- And when using it, always make sure that you butt the bottom of the guide bar up to the branch. NEVER cut a branch using the front end of the guide bar as this is where the "kickback zone" is. Google kickback zone if you don't know what it is.Would I recommend this to a DIY'er/keen gardener. ABSOLUTELY!!!Overall great value of money, it does the job very well, feels sturdy and safe to use. Why only 4 stars? The chain tension screw isn't in the best place and makes life a little difficult, and due to the 800W motor, it does lack a little power (for my personal preference).

Powerful cutting action
A mains operated device, so giving continued high power output, cuts very fast indeed, great for branches you can not reach a good manufacturer, well built product.Only one down side, rather heavy, when fully extended, could do possibly, with a strap along it's length for further support, it has a strap to go around your body. Great product. Easy to assemble and dismantle to put back in the box and was super fast delivery, ordered one day and delivered the very next day, without prime!

Worked very well for me with none of the reported issues.
Been after a pole saw for a while now. Looked exclusively at cordless ones with mixed reviews, all were over £100 with chain speeds of around 5 cm.Came across this mains powered one from Black & Decker with an 11cm speed, 10 inch blade and 2.7 metre reach for £100 and thought I'd give it a go.It's a great tool, works brilliantly. No issues with the chain coming off as some reviews say, easy to set up and tension. You do have to check the tension every so often but I managed a good hour using it with only one adjustment needed. It is quite heavy at its longest reach but still perfectly manageable with care. Cut limbs of 8 inches and more with relative ease, saved me at least 500 notes if I'd had to employ a tree surgeon.Very pleased with this tool, excellent value for money.

Pretty good, but weighty
Used it to cut some fairly large high branches. Did the job ok, still needed ladder though. Good points, Powerful, auto oil. But, it seems far heavier than it needs to be. I've got a cordless 8in chainsaw and without battery that's light as a feather. Also, it would be useful to have switch further up pole. Probably a safety reason for it, but it would help.

Not fit for purpose
Setting up was straightforward enough. However within a few minutes the chain had become slack. I adjusted it again and in less than 5 minutes it was slack again and came off the bar.
