I have several books by this author. I could not recommend enough! By far, my favorite kids storybook series. Starting age: babies! But bigger kids will like it too! I’m guessing up to 6 years old. I’m a grownup and I love it! The story is cute, she manages to tell the story using simple words and still rhymes! Karma Wilson is awesome! I want all her bear books! I’m buying all of them - I work with kids. They love her books!

I bought this book many years ago when my daughters were very young. It has a very nice cadence to it that makes it soothing for them. I made up voices for each of the animals which they enjoyed even more. I continued reading to them every night through middle school. It was very bonding. The books changed to classics (e.g. a Tale of Two Cities, Animal Farm, etc.) so that we could discuss them. They know I would ask about what we read so they paid attention well. They both scored extremely high in reading comprehension on SAT's. Even as they got older they still requested that I read this book for them every Christmas. My nephew just had his first child and this had to be among the books that I gave him. My daughters are a bit away from having their own children (knock knock!) but I plan to record my voice reading this book to attach in a presentation with the book pages so that my grandchilden will be able to enjoy it someday. This really was a family favorite to read together.

I love the book, and so did my toddlers. .I do feel bad for the Bear because he doesn't get to hibernate the whole time. As a parent I feel the pain. Very cute story would definitely suggest it others, and buy again.

I LOVE this cute series and so do my two little boys. Two things that make me give this specific book 4 stars instead of 5 are that it was a much smaller book than I was expecting (maybe 8 in. across - the one you check out from the library is more like 12 or 13) and that the story and rhyme are sweet and fun but a little less 'meaningful' than the other books in the series. There's less of a message applicable to children. The friends end up falling asleep after trying to keep Bear up all night and then it ends. Still a fun book though.

This was my 2 year old son's favorite Christmas book this year. The pictures are warm, the characters of likable, the story is simple and engaging. The animals were a "family," doing what families do for Christmas: spend time together, bake cake, decorate a tree, make presents for each other, and sing carols. My son looked forward to reading this book almost every night in December. It was helpful to get my son excited about Christmas.
