60 x Vitax Cabbage Collars Deters Root Flies & Repels Slugs Snails Weeds

As an avid gardener living in a limestone pavement area, snails and slugs are No 1 enemy to my lovely organic vegetables etc. The rough surface of these collars helps stops them getting close enough to climb up the stems and munch! It also prevents root fly infestation which devastates your crop and the main reason for buying them. Good value and easy to reuse following seasons etc. I couldn’t find them on the high street in the big ‘ outdoor garden type stores so pleased to find them here.

Having been asked to write a review I feel I can only say that since the rain has been falling since I planted the brassicas using the collars, apart from any flying insect which have survived the rain, the slugs haven't been near them either.I think when the rain eventually goes off the collars will be very useful.J Simpson

A necessity for planting brassicas. Last year when planting broccoli I forgot to fit these and the cheeky cabbage root fly got to them. When planting the rest of my brassicas I used them and I had no damage. So I’d say they worked a treat.

Have used these before to protect cabbage plants in allotment. They prevent young plants being destroyed by slugs etc. Have extended use this year to other young plants.

They blew off half the cabbage plants even though they were so hard to get on. I was damaging the little plants getting them on and lost a few with the shear effort of putting them on. Took them off in the end and composted them.

The product is sturdy but small and does not easily open. Fitting the collar around a brassica risks damaging the stem. The collar is just too firm. A possible way round the problem might be to soak the collar first before trying to fit it. The collar will only fit thin stems so needs to be used as early as possible.

Great item. Do just what they are supposed to. Have tried many ways to prevent the slugs stealing my produce and these are the first things that seem to have worked! Definitely worth a try, especially at this price!
