Made a nice Christmas present
I'm a bit late in reviewing this item. I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my co-workers little girl. Her mom said she really like it and spent hours making things for her friends and even made a hairpiece for me.

HUGE success with 4 yr old!
My daughter and I worked on this set together. I do wish the barrettes came with a little bit more explanation, and I for sure got my own hot glue gun out, but - she absolutely LOVED making these. And yes - she totally wore them with pride to daycare and showed them off to all who would listen, lol. These definitely held her interest and were used for weeks afterwards, I would highly recommend this product, even more so if you have your own glue gun at the ready.

Don't do it
This kit is NOT for a six year old. I saw another hair accessory kit much nicer at Walmart for the same price.

Fun Craft - Needs Better Cord for Bracelets, Hot Glue Gun
This is a sweet little craft set - it's fun because you actually get usable items out of it instead of most crafts that just make clutter. This kit makes head bands, hairclips and some little beaded jewelry. It is definitely something fun for younger kids. I'm not sure if pre-teens would like this as well though since some of the items seem more little-kiddy. I'd say this is great for 4-9 year olds, with younger kids obviously requiring some assistance building. The set comes with glue, but I ended up using a hot glue gun. I didn't feel the glue this comes with is adequate at all, especially on the felt for the hair clips. It just soaks into the felt and makes a mess and nothing sticks. You will need some additional items that are not in this set. The instructions on the box show the flower being sewn onto the headband. You will need your own needle and thread if you are going to do it that way. I used the glue gun to glue mine to the headband. The plastic string that comes with the bracket kits is garbage. Don't waste your time stringing anything onto it because it does not tie to finish your bracelet. The plastic cord is slick and the knots works out immediately and your beads go flying. You will need an elastic cord or something of your own for this to work.My kids love dressing up, so this craft was a huge success despite not being able to make the bracelets successfully. Fun set with some workable issues. I highly recommend a glue gun for this.

Fun & entertaining
This wasn't bad, it was fun & creative. But the glue was horrible. Nothing stuck. Had to pull out the gorilla glue.

A Little Girl's Dream Gift
This is a cute gift and a delight for girls. The string for the bracelets is plastic so it's relatively durable, but it's a bit fine for little hands to manipulate, so there may be a need for help to avoid frustration. The colors are bright and very "girly". As others note, these are plastic pieces and it's regular glue, so the newly created masterpieces likely won't make it through puberty, but making them is a fun and they'll be able to model their works of art proudly for friends. One minor complaint is that the box it came it is pretty small (as evidenced by my hand covering it!). Once opened, it's hard to get the pieces back in but you could always put it in a ziploc or, i giving as a gift, maybe a fancy (dollar store) box.
