Hope and Helpful Suggestions and Information on Supplements and Treatments!
If 40 million people are suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease then more awareness of this disease is needed. By reading books like this one you can find helpful suggestions and information on understanding supplements and treatments.Dr. Boateng is a practicing nephrologist who has written this amazing book to help people like you and I who are in a stage of kidney disease we want to improve. Recently I went from Stage 3 to Stage 2 by doing things suggested in books I've read that were very helpful. This book helped me understand the ingredients in the Snap Kidney Health Support Supplement which at one point got my GFR back up to 68! Which was amazing. I am taking it again. You will find information on corn silk, milk thistle, dandelion root and a whole lot more! Some of the questions this book answers include:Which type of water should I drink?Should I take baking soda as my stage of CKD?What foods should I increase in my diet? What foods should I eat to have an alkaline diet? This is one of the best books I've read in the years I've been figuring things out. I should be gone from this earth by now because years ago my GFR was 42 and decreasing rapidly. Now I'm at a GFR of 61 and doing great. I'm so grateful to all the authors who have helped me survive what seems like an incurable illness.Other books I highly recommend along with this one include:Save Your Kidneys by Dr. Edgar LermaStaying Healthy with Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease by the Medical Education InstituteStopping Kidney Disease Basics by Lee Hull (Also look for his food guide/cookbook that has a great recipe for pumpkin chili. I use vegetable base and water in place of the vegetable stock.)The Complete Guide to Supplements for Kidney Health by Robert Galarowicz (Information on acacia fiber that really has helped me greatly.)So with these books you will find your way! I'm so happy I discovered them and have learned a lot!To your health and continued longevity,~The Rebecca ReviewP.S. Please consult with your doctor about taking any supplements like baking soda. I think I need more information on the sodium content and I've read differing opinions because of that. This review is not medical advice, nor am I a doctor!

What a great and important read for anyone with CKD!!!
Recently got the book and was so impressed. It's basically my new go to reference for avoiding dialysis. Through tons of research I had already been doing a number of the things recommended, with my kidney function increasing from 16% to 23%. My doctors aren't big on supplements, so I got my family MD a copy to see what he thinks. I haven't heard back yet, but it's hard to argue with success!!! Many thanks to Dr. Boateng for helping so many of us!!!1st edit...can't wait to see my next set of numbers. I've read elsewhere to cut out meats one by one so not to freak your system out. One goes every 6 weeks for me (either pork, beef, veal, chicken, seafood, etc.). and I'm doing my best to keep meat at 3 oz. per day. Also keeping at least one day per week meatless, and cutting back on other proteins. I guess the main thing besides the protein issue in the book is that the vast majority of it focuses on herbs and supplements. Now taking every one of them --- it's more that a lot, I take almost 30 pills / gummies per day. Shop Amazon for product info, reviews and pricing information. If smart you can take all of them somewhat affordably. I also recommend drinking distilled (baby) water, which is easy to find at most grocery stores.Best of luck to all of those with CKD. Please do your research, and go with your gut! Doctors can help a lot, but their help is really only about one-third of it --- and none of them know it all. Another EDIT. I'm traveling all the way from Tennessee to see Dr. Boateng in Utah! I don't really trust another nephrologist. I'll update with visit details in a month or two.
