Impressions after 1 year
I bought this purifier because it is HSA/FSA eligible and I was intrigued by the NCCO technology which I have not seen offered on more popular purifier brands. I got this because we have cats and dogs, and live in a rural area with lots of pollen producing oak trees that leave a yellow pollen layer on everything in the springtime. I end up getting sinus infections and spend oa week or two terribly sick. The basement in my house has a damp moldy smell because the air is stagnant. I plugged this in my 12โ x 20โ basement bedroom. In an hour or so there was a very noticeable difference. When I wake up in the morning, I am no longer congested. I have used another air purifier and noticed improvement, but not as much as with this one. The air smells clean. I think the ncco and hepa combination is very effective at removing pet and damp odors from the air. I ran into the problem that other reviewers have mentioned when the display malfunctions and the EE notification and NCCO light turns red. I emailed support and they said to do this: Air Purifier Fix unplug the unit for 30 seconds or longer plug it back in 1. Power the machine off. 2. Then hold the power button down until you hear the click. Once you hear the click release the power button and press the fan speed up button. Speed will go up from 3 to 4 and code will appear on the display and unit will shut off. 3. Repeat step 2 but when you hear the click , release the power button and press the fan speed down button. Speed will go down one level and a code will appear and the unit will shut off. 4. Just power the machine on and the light will be blue. 5. If the letters on the display seem off, have the customer unplug the machine and re-plug it. This is to be done after the machine has been reset if necessary. That worked for me and I havenโt had any problems since. I have also tried this upstairs in the living room and it works great. I cranked it up to 10 since there is a lot of open space square footage. After a few hours the air quality is noticeably improved. My nose is less runny and animal odors are gone. This purifier is a bit noisy running on high, but it is a nice white noise so it doesnโt bother me. The video is of the sound running on level 10.

Reactor for this unit is not shippable to Hawaii
If you are living in Hawaii as I do, I would think twice before you buy his product. Attempted to buy a replacement reactor unit and was told it could not be shipped to Hawaii. The air purifier is now useless to me. Replaced my Westinghouse 1701 HEPA Air Purifier with one manufactured by Germguardian. The replacement product works great.

Did not last as it should be for the price I paid for it.
UPDATE: I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING AROUND FORVTGE NCCO REPLACEMENT FILTER BUT NO RESULTS AT ALL. THE MACHINE LOOKS NEW BUT CAN'T USE IT BECAUSE THE BEEPING SOUND WILL NOT STOP AT ALL. BOUGHT 2 UNITS THEN AND BOTH ARE JUST NOT WORKING. BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY!!! AMAZON SHOULD TAKE THIS OUT OF THEIR INVENTORY IF THEY CAN'T BACK OUT THE QUALITIES OF THEY ITEMS THEY SELL WESTINGHOUSE DOES NOT HAVE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. ZERO. ******************** I paid $200 plus and stopped working after a year and a half!!! Reached out customer's service and never got any response or help at all. Waste of money and I bought it at the 200 plus price.

Works so well feels like I'm dreaming
Let's just say this clears the air in my room really well. I have an alarm system which was previously (often) notifying me that the air quality in my room was subpar. I thought this was a fluke. I bought this air purifier, and it's working great. How do I know? Well the number one difference I've noticed is that I'm now dreaming every single night. It had been years since I'd had any sort of dreams. The sound of the purifier reminds me of a white noise machine, which I like. I'm happy I made this purchase!

This will remove Voc but needs improvement in other areas
Iโm an air quality nerd in general and have been learning about air quality and air filtration for couple years. Iโm an engineer by trade so I always do an analysis by following the numbers. I Own plenty of high and low end filters ranging from 1000$ to 45$. All varying in quality but you might find the price isnโt always what you get these days. This model isnโt a great one for moving air since itโs so tiny. Particulate matter is sub par compared to others in the price range. You could easily find a true hepa filter with higher CADR. But the uniqueness of this filtration system is the Ncco. Created by an entrepreneurial group in Hong Kongโthe idea is based off of catalytic oxidation. I own a pco filter and it emits ozone (I know that smell) and it doesnโt remove voc at a measurable rate. This ncco however has surprised me after I did some controlled test. I initially smelled a bit of ozone ( as it uses activated oxygen) but that soon passed as the directions say it will smell funny but it is expected. If you are looking for something to remove tvoc. This is an option. Better than most activated carbon filters. The technology ncco is robust and removes gases in a reasonable timely manner. Voc gasses are extremely hard to remove as Iโve used multiple systems and even rolled my own carbon filter. This clogs up quick and needs new activated carbon. This unit itself could use improvement for sure. But itโs a viable solution for voc. I wouldnโt buy it for anything else to be honest and I would pair it with a high cadr true hepa filter. Overall Iโm pleased as I already have filers to remove PM quickly but I will be looking for better builds later. ncco works for me since I see the numbers get to 0 around there given is no air blowing in stay around there. Amazing if you ask me! Ncco is a promising tech that seems to be under wraps but this could change a lot in todayโs age of respiratory diseases. The directions are almost on existent so pay attention to the pictures on the box and read the instructions. You need to remove the bag around the hepa as well as install the ncco chamber. Let it run for a while like an hour and it should work.

Got rid of Skunk Smell!!!
My dog got sprayed by a skunk. I put her in my bathroom where there is not a vent or a window to open. I bought soooo many products to try and get rid of the smell. This was the ONLY thing that worked! AND I was able to buy it with my FSA $ Also put this in my daughters room that had a lingering smell/funk. Cleared it right up in a day. If you continue to use it in the same room constantly it will leave a metallic smell. I think itโs the smell of really clean air! LOL

Excellent filtration + Small form factor
Great lil purifier. I honestly didn't expect it to be quite so small, but it performs like a much larger machine. As you can see in the pic I have it sitting next to a Honeywell HPA300 for scale. The Honeywell is a great machine, but it's almost 3X the size of the Westinghouse. Over the past 6 weeks I've alternated them twice between hallway and office. I find the best way to test a purifier is in the entryway of a house or apt, you know right when you walk in (fresh nose) if it's doing its job. I believe the NCCO filter/technology is what makes this compact purifier so capable. Just make sure you remove that filter from the very bottom of the packaging (it's wrapped in foil) as I almost threw mine away. Remember there are 2 filters to unwrap before using.

some sort of internal error with this machine
I bought two of these, because of the price, and they seem to work OK for a while. But both of them began to display an error message after a while- no matter how careful the maintenance-and it just never went away once it showed up. Really not happy with the overall performance of this product.

No warranty support
Update 2: I have tried to contact Westinghouse to arrange warranty repair or replacement of my defective air purifier and they are not responding. I submitted their online form and got a confirmation it was received. A week later I received a survey asking how my customer support experience was. I have since tried to contact them multiple times with no success. I have a warranty extension from American Express who chase down this type of thing, so I am going to let them take care of it. I wouldn't recommend this air purifier as there is absolutely no support from Westinghouse and their warranty is effectively useless. Update 1: After 8 months the display went crazy and it was showing signs of short circuiting. I have contacted Westinghouse customer support and expect them to replace it under warranty, but we will see. I will update this review as I progress through the warranty claim process. At present it is a solid 2 star product as it worked well for the first 8 months, but then I worry it became a fire hazard. .
