Perfect Solution
Now I have to say I was a bit skeptical in buying this product. I was already using a Net Gear wifi extender with my router with less than stellar results to my dead zones. I am blown away with how well and fast my internet now works in the dead zone areas. This product has by far exceeded my expectations.. With the good, theres always a little bad. This company could improve the instructions it sends you. I was able to go on YouTube and see more detailed information. I recommend the first thing you do is pair the 2 units, the adapter and extender before you do anything else. Start in the same room with the pairing because youre most likely on the same circuit. Once paired you can just move the extender to the room you desire. The pair led should illuminate again. It apparently illuminates from green to red.. So the best pairing is a bright green, it can look more amber too.. Im assuming that means a less stable pairing (Again the instructions were vague). Once you have a pairing add your ethernet cable from your router to the main adapter. Whats super cool is you can then clone your routers wifi info to the extender thats in your dead zone and it will act as if it were your main router sitting in that dead zone.. If your router has WPA capabilities it will be super easy to clone. Again, the instructions are super limited, so go to YouTube and find some better detailed info on how to clone with or without WPA capability. I have not done a speed test yet but all I really cared about was, if I could watch videos and streaming on my phone and ipad without it freezing.. This was the perfect solution for my home networking needs!!!

Works better than expected, but don’t expect full speed internet.
First off, If you buy this expecting to get the full speed of your home internet connection, think again. The only way to get that is to be directly wired into your internet modem. Anything else will usually slow it down. Also, if you have multiple circuits in your home (that is, more than one breaker panel box), make sure that both outlets you use are in the same breaker panel, otherwise you will most likely have issues with this working. These devices cannot jump circuits all that well.I didn’t expect this, or any power line based internet device to work very well from reviews I’ve read from many users of different models of this product, especially in an older apartment building. Almost immediately, my expectations were blown. Fairly easy to set up, taking only a few short minutes, and everything works amazingly. Setting up the WiFi connection takes a few, and has to be done through TP-Link’s own “tpPLC” app, but when it’s up and running, there are no issues at all. I get about 60-70% of my internet speed using Ethernet, and about the same with WiFi. Being that this is literally taking your internet and sending it through the power lines in your home, this is much better than I expected. I haven’t had any outages with this, and when devices are connected via WiFi, my signal remains strong and constant. This is incredibly great for larger homes or homes with impenetrable walls by WiFi, and actually works better than a standard WiFi repeater because it isn’t just picking up an already weakened signal and sending it out with further loss.

Quick setup. Wish I'd gotten it earlier. 5 GHz range isn't as good as I'd hoped.
Directions were fairly straightforward. The two units connected, and continue to work even though separated by 2 floors on opposite sides of a 90 year old house with who knows how old wiring. I set it up as a mesh with my existing wireless router (put in same SSID and password) and it works! My devices hand off from old router on first floor to this unit's extension on third floor seamlessly - no change had to be made on their end.The app for mobile and the app for PC are kind of clunky and limited, but they perform OK. I uninstalled the PC app, it had no added value, and looked like an afterthought. It wasn't entirely clear how to change the admin/admin login (which you want to do off the bat, unless you want anyone to snoop your network), as it's not clearly in the directions, but I figured it out. Also, the signal strength from the wireless box isn't great, it's just OK, at least on 5 GHz frequency. YMMV given location of course. I was just hoping for a bit better strength. I measured it using a Wifi analyzer app. Also: this is a Chinese product; I was not able to determine TP Link's full ownership, but given recent concerns about Huawei, it's a consideration. Use secure apps and https, etc.

Worked as expected
As someone who is usually skeptical about trying things like running my network over a power line even though that's kind of how it runs through Ethernet.. I decided to give it a try. What I wanted was to help the WiFi on the other side of my house while having a wired connection for my Fire TV 4k in the bedroom.Did it work you ask? Does it help you ask? Yes. Yes it does. It was super easy to set up, and I didn't even have to 'Pair' it. It knew the other one was there once it got the network signal from my switch. They won't pair unless there is an active signal. Don't ask me how I found that out.I've since added the 1000 ethernet only plug with this set, and again no pairing necessary. Picked right up, and works like a pro.The app you can get from your respective phone's app store is pretty useful. It shows you the current data rate, and lets you rename the WiFi part if you want to match your SSIDs.I will say the speed DOES dip at times (i honestly don't know why, but really don't care because I still get good speeds for what I'm using it for), but it has not once gone down to unacceptable levels, or died completely.I have used it with Plex, and have had zero issues with streaming to the Fire stick as well. Between that, and my 100Mbps internet - I'm pleased.10/10 would buy again.
