Avian Science Super Parakeet Bird Food 4lb

This is the only seed we use for our parakeets. We have used exclusively it for the past 3 years, purchased from bulk bins at a local store. Needing to restock, we decided to check Amazon Prime and Chewy.com to check for the best deals. The reviews here on freshness caught my attention and I purchased right away. It arrived within 24-hours, a day before anticipated. It is SO FRESH! It smells much fruitier and there is not such a heavy seed scent (I mean, it is seed, so of course it does smell like seed). I read about a concerned customer's issue with blue dye on seeds so I pulled some out and tried to see if it indeed was colored, no dye came off and it wasn't a bright blue. My parakeets typically eat the small tan seeds the most so I am not concerned. They could hardly contain their joy when I opened the bag - the jumped right into the packaging before I could fill their food dish! Needless to say, the 'keets and I are happy customers and will continue to purchase monthly! Thank you, Amazon & Volkmans, for keeping my babies happy, healthy, with full bellies that give them energy to keep us entertained.

My parakeets enjoy this food, and I like that it has a good variety of ingredients. The 8 lb bag is a great size and lasts a long time. The mix looks fresh, and my birds have had no issues eating it. It’s a good everyday food option for keeping them happy and healthy.

My birds like it.

I have a fussy parakeet and this is the only food she will eat. I am so grateful to have found this supplier. Their customer service is top notch!

Large bag arrived quickly and the birds love it.

Good seed mix. Budgies NEED seeeds in their diet. Not just pelllets. They also need fresh veggies, some fruit, egg food ext. peed them volkman parakeet seed mix not just pellets. Think natural…. Not manmade. Vokman is good stuff.

This bird seed is perfect for my two very picky budgies! There is hardly any leftover seed in their bowl at the end of the day compared to their previous seed! This is a must have for all budgie owners! I recommend keeping it in a refillable non perishable plastic container keeps it fresh for longer!

I have a flock of 8 parakeets. Each one has its own personality and preferences, but they all have one thing in common: they are the most picky and stubborn little goofballs I have ever seen! Getting them to try anything new is worse than trying to get a toddler to eat raw broccoli. (Advance apologies to all the parents who have toddlers who love raw broccoli.) Anyway, the leader of the flock, Moses, approached this new seed with trepidation while the others watched, anxiously. After a moment, he began throwing the seeds out of the dish and all over my carpet. Naturally, Moses had spoken, so all 7 of the others decided it must be poison, so they all avoided it as such. However, my newest rescue bird, Davy, who has not been with us very long, and hence has not had time to be fully indoctrinated into the ways of the flock, cautiously approached another dish that was still full, and he tried it. Then, he dove in!! He loved it so much, his little belly was sticking out and full. Since the others noticed that Davy was having this all to himself, they overrode Moses' initial judgement, and they all decided to try it. Now I can't keep the dishes full! Moses even throws the dish off the side of the cage when it is empty. They all are healthy, energetic, and happy. The seed looks great, smells great, and was well-packaged. No sign of moths or webs or weevils. I need to keep this stocked so I do not run out too fast, so I just ordered another bag. I take no chances of facing the wrath of the flock!

This seed mix recommended by experienced friends. Not cheap but didn't expect it to be. Budgie loves it! while I try to change her to a complete pelletted diet. Looks and feels like quality seed in top condition, well packaged. Would buy again.
