Secrets of Expert Mold Making and Resin Casting

I don't like writing negative reviews unless the seller has been a real pain, but in this instance I was rather dissapointed with this book. With the large number of resins and mould making materials available I was hoping to get some insight into the best materials to use, but there is very little about different resin types and their applications.There is some good stuff in here and it is not an expensive book, but don't imagine you will be getting anything inspirational or comprehensive. There is a lot about mould design and rather too much on building pressure chamber ovens. Personally I have learned more from watching YouTube videos.

I thought that this book would help me understand the basics of mold making, god, what a waste of money. It appeared that the author was good at drawing pictures, with the only value of letting a young child color the shapes in. Totally unimpressed.

This was brought to my attention by friends on a modelling web forum. I have dome some resin casting myself before but the information contained in this book will certainly take my skills up to a new level. I have only read the first few chapters but skimming ahead I can see is going to be a very useful reference for any future casting work.

I gave this rating because it covered the basics that I could understand. Needed about 65% to help me as this covered the area that I was going to attempt for the first time. It raised my confidence as the expense can run away with you but with clear instructions I should have no problems - I hope.The book goes on to other methods witch I did not continue reading as I needed to try, this was enough for now.

I have been making moulds for more than 30 years and although there were some interesting tips in this publication, I would say that it would be of more interest to the beginner, or those with less experience.

Arrival was unexpectedly fast, so highly recommended! As for the book, if it does not advise on the specific questions I had in mind, it certainly is an indispensible primer. There is no possibility for anyone who reads it carefully to go wrong so I call it a very sensible guide.

Great book with the low-down on how to do this. No nonsense, easy read, just the facts!
