Good and most affordable powder I've seen
Nice aromatic smell and dark in colour so the quality seems good.Just like matcha, you'll need to use around 3 slightly heaped teaspoons if you like your tea on the stronger side.I definitely suggest sifting the powder first and using steaming water to bloom it (not boiling 100°c water) bare in mind the less water you use, the more strong it will be (less is better).Mix with with an electric milk frother (if you're looking to buy I recommend an aerolatte matcha frother for a quicker mix), or a bamboo matcha whisk.Top up with milk or water and nice both hot and cold.

Distinctive flavour
This powder is akin to matcha in that it's very finely-ground and takes a fair amount of effort to blend smoothly in a hot drink; mixing with a small whisk or chopstick is usually a good bet. The flavour might not be to everyone's tastes, something I personally think of as 'pleasantly' bitter with a nutty roasted flavour to it as well, it can easily become too powerful so you need to pick the right amount for your personal tastes with care and probably a bit of experimentation. My preference is to use milk rather than just water. Like matcha as well it would be easy enough to use this in other things, be it other hot drinks or various foods, although the stronger flavour may limit the options a little more.

Just Fine
Not sure what I was expecting from this one as I've only had green matcha before not hoji cha but I remained unimpressed, would much prefer tea leaves than this version.

A good, earthy alternative to matcha
Before this review I hadn't tried Hojicha before, but I have experience with Matcha and other tea varieties, it was nice to try a tea I hadn't heard of before. For those who don't know Hojicha is a relatively new (100 yearsish), it is made by roasting common green teas for a period of time. The process of roasting the tea gives it a lovely earthy taste, you definitely get chocolatey notes in there too. It also makes the appearance a kind of dusty brown, which can look pretty cool in a latte or something. As with any tea you can prepare it in multiple ways, you have the traditional way which in the case of hojicha is just by mixing it with hot water, or you can be a bit trendy and go for a latte (which is very tasty). The packaging handily does come with some instructions for preparing the drink, but feel free to experiment and also look online.Speaking of the packaging - it was quite hard to get into, and then all of the hojicha out. I will not dock the product a star because the benefit of the packaging is that it is not wasteful, so a bit more eco friendly, but yeah it was hard. In the end I used scissors and moved it all into a glass pot for storing it in a cupboard.Overall it's a really nice tea, would recommend.

Nice flavor and great as a milk tea latte
This tea tastes just like the hojicha milk tea I had in Korea. Following the directions on the bag, I felt like the flavor was a little weak, but then I added a little bit more powder to my hoji shot, and it became the perfect tea. It can be hard to get the proportions right, but when you do, the flavor is rich, earthy, nutty, and sweet. It also tastes great iced or hot! I will definitely buy more of this soon.My latte recipe:1 and 1/4 tsp of hojicha powder60ml hot water- froth/stir -1 tsp condensed milk1 tsp honey150ml milk- Heat and stir it all together in a milk frother (I use my Nespresso frother) or add ice -

Beautiful taste
This tea has a very nice well balanced flavours and aromas. I enjoyed it in both classic brew and as a Latte. Only problem is the pack is too small and finished quickly while larger packs never where made available and now I can't get my hand on even this tiny pack.

Concentrated green tea beverage, fun experimenting with new drinks
The media could not be loaded. I’ve never had this sort of drink but I enjoy green tea daily so I thought I’d give it a shot. I decided to follow the instructions as there are four recommendations on the back of the packet (see pic). This was the first time making these and I took a video for you to see how they turned out (I’m sure I’ll get better with time). The easiest drink is to just throw a teaspoon of powder into water bottle and shake. I didn’t make that but I did make the Latte, the Classic, and the shot. I’ll say these are obviously not sweet in anyway, as this powder is true to the green tea flavor (and then some).I decided to dive in headfirst and took the shot. I think I was expecting it to be harsh, so I was surprised that I enjoyed it. It’s basically taking a very concentrated amount of green tea all at once.I then moved to the classic Hojicha, and that was similar but diluted. I’m not one to drink sweet teas but for something this concentrated I grabbed a basic cookie to go along with it. What a great combo that was. Next up was the Hojicha Latte, and that hit the spot (especially accompanied by a cookie).I’ve really enjoyed my experimentation and happy to see how much powder is in a single packet. There’s 3.5 ounces of this powder in a single packet estimated as 100 servings so this will go far.Altogether if you’re a green tea fanatic like me, this Hojicha powder is worth exploring. The ingredients are simply “roasted green tea powder” so especially happy to see there’s no additives, and considering the health benefits of green tea you can’t go wrong. One tip I’ll point out, when making drinks be sure to really mix them up. I thought I did but at the end of each cup was quite a bit of sediment so I find myself stirring as I drink just to make sure nothing is wasted. Enjoy!

Premium
Premium product from Seein makers of Korean teas. The colour of the packaging reflects the same colour of the Hojicha, which is made from twig tea and has the lowest caffeine content of the teas. It has a roasted aroma that tastes like peanut and coffee, as well as the same satisfying umami taste that comes with all Matcha.
