Prophecy Paperback – 1 Dec. 2006

I'm not sure why I read this book to the end, it was absolute nonsense. I have enjoyed Peter James's Toy Grace series and the stand alone novels. Some of the stand alones have had the supernatural incorporated within them but this was the most blatant. There was no suspense to it but several descriptions of unnecessary gratuitous horror, which I skipped. We are expected to believe a presumably sensible female takes off for a weekend with a man she has only just met and that coincidences happen with devastating effect. Had this been adapted into a crime novel it might have been better. I'm glad I only paid 99p for it.

Enjoyed this book, interesting subject, got me thinking after I put it down.Would recommend he never disappoints.Well done Peter.

I was really enjoying this book, found it quite spooky, and I particularly enjoy horror storys about the occult, black magic, possession etc so was really looking forward to how it all panned out in the end - but I found the ending very hurried. It was concluded in the last 20 pages and was almost as if he'd got bored writing teh book and just wanted to get it over and done with. Slightly disappointed

I ordered this book in error but decided to give it a go. I'm obviously in the minority, but I found this book so gratuitously sadistic that I could notcarry on reading it. I read a huge amount of history and know of the ghastly things done in past times but the in depth details in this book upset me and I could not read on. Sorry, I must be getting old!!

Burn it, burn it, burn it.Seriously wtf pj. The first 50 pages bored me to my ps3, it was as though pj had recently read a Chris mamby book and decided to bore me with a twenty something girl looking to fill her bed.From the alchemist to this, I say again wtf ?

As an ex curator of the British museum I thoroughly enjoyed a horror book based there! A perfect balance of accurate museum life alongside the romance of a country estate and dashing aristocrat..whilst being emersed in a creeping tale of supernatural horror!Frannie is both a likeable and believable character and this book merits 're reading several times!

I didn’t realise this book was as creepy as it was , nevertheless I could not put it down . It had plenty of twists and turns and plenty of shocks. It’s gripped me from the vetting first page . Great read !

A somewhat interesting tale of reincarnation mixed with cyclical patterns. I was not overly impressed with this work, but it is not in the same league as his DS Grace novels either. Shows early promise from the author.

Peter James schreibt hervorragende Thriller, z.B. "Stirb schön", "Stirb ewig" usw.Dass er jedoch auch ein excellenter "Horror-Autor" ist, war mir bisher nicht bewußt."Prophecy" ist schon vor einigen Jahren entstanden: Ein richtig schön unheimlich-grusliger Roman wie zu den allerbesten Zeiten von Dean Koontz oder Stephen King.Nein, das ist so nicht richtig: Sprachlich gesehen, ist Peter James sogar noch um Längen besser.Die Helden des Romans sind äußerst gut beschrieben, ihre Charaktere werden in allen Facetten geschildert. Man erfährt einiges über den britischen "Way of Life".Die Geschichte selbst ist originell, spannend, gruselig.... alles, was zu einem guten Roman gehört. Mein lebt und leidet mit den Hauptpersonen mit.Genau das richtige für ein kaltes und nebliges Herbstwochenende.Fazit: Absolut lesenswert!

Right from blatty's exorcist, all novelists brings a priest at the end to wind up their work if the matter is expulsion of evil spirit. Can't they spare priests? Why the protagonists do that themselves. Prophecy has interesting moments in it. Climax is very ordinary, predictable. It was a fast read. Nothing unique. Yearn for a horror novel like the masterpiece Exorcist and bag of bones by king.

Always love his books. I prefer his Roy Grace series but enjoy everything I have read. Prophecy was a little more intense than the others I have read but it certainly keep my interest ...

Got what my wife ordered

This was my introduction to Peter James novels. I thoroughly enjoyed this page turner and finished the book within 2 days...which is a first for me. I simply could not put it down.
