Honeywell Home Ding Dong Classic Wired Doorbell – White, D117

It’s a door bell, goes ding Dong when someone presses the button at the door, could do with being louder though.

Installed in our hallway, good sound quality and I can even hear it in the garden (we have a 3bed semi detached). Definitely recommend.

Replaced a vintage Friedland with the ceramic tile in the centre with this due to redecoration and wanting a bright white bell. It's NOT a Friedland bell. It's a copy. It works well enough but is not as loud as my original Friedland bell. It is louder when fully installed than testing on the bench before installing so don't be too put off before installation. It's worth the money provided it lasts (some reports of short life span). Hoping running on batteries will not stress the bell too much rather than mains transformer. Will report back in a couple of years or if it dies prematurely!

Perfect replacement for a 40 year old ding dong bell that was yellowed and brittle. Still the same ding dong, so no surprises. Excellent instructions on the back of the box, not complicated. We already had a transformer to power the bell so no additional wiring required.

Bought this to replace a Friedman one that stopped working after 20 years. Apart from the front cover, it's absolutely identical and fits using the old screw holes. The only snag is it really isn't loud enough. I swapped the metal bar chimes from the old Friedman onto the new one.... they fit perfectly.... and the problem was solved and you could hear it all through the house.................as loud as the old one. What they've done to the old metal chimes is a mystery... they're a different colour so perhaps a different metal causes the problem. Anyway, if you can get the volume up using an old Friedman, these are fantastic value. Well bought another one for a friend................ again it was far too quiet.............. swapped the metal chimes over from the old one but still too quiet. Messed around with the rubber chime supports to make sure they were all located ok in the slots and that they weren't twisted slightly which would stop the chimes sounding ok............ anyway, problem solved and nice and loud.

I needed a doorbell that was compatible with the Ring Pro 2 AC voltage range of 16v - 24v. This doorbell and another one from Honeywell seemed ideal. I dont know why comments on here mention the sound of the chime is not that loud because after having installed it properly on the wall, it is as loud as my previous Byron chime, if not slightly louder! I was able get it working with the Ring Pro 2, you have to buy Pro Power Kit v3 from the UK ring website, it is only £2.99 and that will allow you to use your mechanical chime with the Ring Pro 2. I also bought the ProTek 16V 8VA 2 Module Bell Transformer (BT8-16) to power everything. After checking the current draw for the Ring Pro 2 it seems as though it only uses around 3.5VA during the day and around 4VA during the night with the IR lights on (8VA = 0.5 amps). I believe ring states 10VA - 40VA as there is no separate Ring Pro 2 for UK and USA, and the mechanical doorbell chimes in the U.S require 10VA, however in the UK that is not the case. Everything works perfectly and I am mostly happy with the fact I can use a decent and loud mechanical chime in the house!

I had a Friedland bell for 20 + years, it got through 2 sets of batteries in all that time and my wife who is partially deaf always heard it, brilliant unit.. unfortunately it broke so I hunted out a replacement and found this piece of crap.. it is advertised as a Friedland but when it arrived I discovered it to be a Honeywell which I assumed had taken over Friedland, it's advertised as being 80db but I doubt it makes half that, it's so impossible to hear you would have more chance of hearing someone clicking their fingers outside the door.. my hearing is good but I'm afraid even I cannot hear it. Save yourself the money and move on and buy something else as this isn't fit for purpose.. Why haven't I sent it back ??? because I ruined all the packaging when taking it out of it's sealed plastic and I doubt they would accept it.. Lesson learned..

I had one of these, old and yellowed by time. This one was a straight swap and is connected to an Eufy doorbell. All works as it should.

Funziona benissimo, montato in 10 minuti, si sente bene in tutta la casa (circa 100mq). Consigliato

Fijne deurbel. Eenvoudig aan te sluiten. Deed het meteen op onze bestaande trafo. Geluid is van het juiste volume voor ons appartement. Prima vervanger van onze bestaande vervelende trrrrrr(zonder "ing") gong. De ding dong die deze gong geeft is elegant en niet irritant. Aanrader!
