Wonder Woman Vol. 3: Iron (The New 52)

Destiny Mentors and Prophecies
Another good volume. Good art work and a good story. This volume incorporated issues 0 then continuing the arc from the last volume 13-18. I did enjoy this story, but the reason I could not give this 5 stars, is this is supposed to be Wonder Woman's comic but apart from issue 0 Diana was relegated to almost a side characters. I am all for building up the other character, but for me the title character should take centre stage. After the betrayal of the last issue, Diana must track down her other step siblings in order to save her new baby brother, but what do the other Olympians have to say about the latest edition. Also the prophecy of the "New God" has spread across the cosmos.I like this story but for me I would have like Diana to get more time in this volume especially with her new weapons, the first time she uses the is wasted, the second is only a couple of panels. The fact that they do give so much more time to the other characters, the volume felt more like a setup for the next one rather than its own main event.

Liked the first two volumes
Liked the first two volumes, aside from the new origin and story of the Amazons being rapists and murderers, really? I know it's part of the original myth of Amazons but it really doesn't work in the context of Wonder Woman.Having said all that, i did like the first two volumes and allowed the above not to effect my enjoyment what wa mostly very good... then volume 3 came along and this is where it lost me, far too many Gods taking up the story rendering Wonder Woman almost a side character and it turns into a juvenile soap opera. The final nail in the coffin was the character destroying moment, Wonder Woman, who is usually very smart and can overcome problems and potential conflicts peacefully without the need for violence, pre-emptively lunges towards a new character (Orion) who she's only just met dual weilding magical daggers to attack him... yep, this is what Azzarello has reduced Wonder Woman too in just a single page. Attack first, think later.Azzarello's run had been critically acclaimed and this is why i started to read these, but even being my first exposure to a Wonder Woman comic something seemed a bit off. I subsequently watched the animated Wonder Woman movie and that seemed to hit the mark for me with what a Wonder Woman story should be like, with a little more research i have came across George Perez's run on Wonder Woman, that looks much more traditional Wonder Woman and i'd reccomend that for new readers. This begs the question, why is Azzarello's run so acclaimed? Because it's edgy, because it's dark? Maybe if it wasn't a Wonder Woman story I could appreciate it more, because for me, this is definitely not Wonder Woman.Cliff Chiang's art remains the best thing about this Wonder Woman, really unique, hence the 2 stars.

The eighth wonder of the world
Love Azzarello ever since he did 100 Bullets. This series is easily one of the best in the New 52 collection. It continues to reinvent Wonder Woman's history while bringing in a host of exciting fantastical, yet believable, characters. The volume is fairly self-contained despite being part of a much wider arc.Cliff Chiang's art work is second to none at DC right now. While the rest od DC are presenting us with beautiful realistic artwork, it is all a bit generic, on the other hand this is a true breath of fresh air.I have almost fully converted to digital comics, this series makes me want to own the hard copies again.

Why stick a security strip on top of the story??!!
My 3 star review isn’t indicative of what I thought of the storyline - it’s more indicative of the magnetic security tag that was stuck on top of one of the cells of the book!! Right in the middle of the picture!! Why would you do that?! It spoils the comic for one thing, and my enjoyment of it for another! Come on amazon! You can do better than this!!

Goddess gracious me
Brian Azzarello's excellent story continues and this time adds New God Orion as she tries to save her friend Zola from death and rescue her baby brother Zeke. The best part of this story is that it opens up the gates to explore Greek mythology at a better level and we see that with the introduction of Diana's new siblings Siracca and Milan, both children of Zeus who possess unique abilities.Issue 0 showcases the first meeting between a young Wonder Woman and the God of War Ares, setting up their meeting later on as she seeks his help in uniting Zola with her son Zeke.

Wonder woman keeps getting better.
There are two highlights in volume 3. First a story about wonder woman's background as a young girl growing up. Which tells the story of a character who has no idea she is the daughter of hippolyta & Zeus. It also explains how she meets and, receives training from the God of war Ares. The second highlight is the introduction of a deadly enemy known as first born. Volume 3 was superb and, I look forward to reading volume 4.

Good comic
Very good book about how Wonder Woman came to be and who decided to be against her and with her. Nice graphics as well.

Wonder Woman Wow
As a fan of Wonder Woman, this is an essential third part in a series that needs to be read for any fan of this Amazonian! Action, Intrigue and Mythology all run rampant.
