Home Repair Record Keeper: Includes Schedules and Maintenance Logs

It's 95% maintenance logs
The Home Repair Record Keeper is absolutely something that you could create on your own, but there is some value in having all your house information in one book that is compiled for you.The Home Repair Record Keeper is, by far, almost exclusively pages of log books. The pages are organized by room types and the logs have a word or phrase followed by a _____________ that you can fill in. The paperback book is designed to be written in. The logs are fairly extensive as you'll have dedicated spots for the paint color for a certain room to the manufacturer name and model number for a particular appliance. The log books feel complete.I can't give book 5 stars, though, because it's really just a series of log books. Sure, there is an intro about how the author bought a home that was 40-50 years old and didn't realize how much work it would be to maintain that home - and they thought it would be useful to turn their log books into a publication. Each section is divided by rooms, and there are some general tips for each room, along with scattered mini-tips about some general maintenance task. But those mini-tips lack substance as they are rather basic. Not incorrect, but there just isn't much help there other than reminding the reader, "oh yeah, I probably should clean my dishwasher once a month...maybe use some soap to clean the racks and clean out the trap/filter." That's kind of it. I think a 5-star book would have provided some more tips, and having a cartoon illustration or two would have gone a long way to complementing the log books. Additionally, as I started to write in the book I realized that it would be a lot easier to write in there if it was a spiral bound notebook that rested flat, instead of a paperback book that had a glued spine and just doesn't lay flat that great. So, do you need this book? Absolutely not. You can make these log books for yourself or probably download some sheets somewhere on the internet. However, for the relatively low cost of a paperbook, you could do far worse as an investment for your new house to have all critical info in one convenient place. Or it works well as a house warming gift. So there is still value here, I'll just say it's 4-star value.

for anyone that loves to have their home organized to a T
This is a good home maintenance book where you can write out little details about your home - from wall paint colors to the brand of your deadbolt doors. This makes it so much easier to keep track of the little details. I know I save all the manuals and warranty cards that come with the stuff I buy for the home but the thing is over the years I forget where I keep them and they're just scattered everywhere. This is a much better system and now I plan to stuff all that information at the end of the book.Although I like this book I personally would have liked it more if it was divided up in a different way to where all the information is in the first section of the book and then all the pages to fill out information is on the second section. There could even be tabs so I can get to that section easily and quickly. There could also be a little storage folder towards the end of the book where you can stuff all the warranty cards and instruction manuals. However, I do understand that would make the book cost a lot more than this current price. This book just looked and felt more like a book to read than one to write stuff and refer back to.I also got another idea while looking at this book that I wished I had done sooner. If you own a home that you know you'll eventually sell in a few years this is a great book to keep and perhaps just skip filling out the section about furniture or items that you'll be taking with you when you move out. When you do sell your home you can leave this book for the new home owners and make their life a little easier! I only thought about this because we are currently selling our home and I thought it would have been such a good idea. I will be doing this for our new home so I can pass the book to the new home owners one day.Despite my preference of how this book is organized, I still think this is a great book, very helpful and useful. Since our current home is for sale and there's no point to fill this out for it, I will be saving it for the new home we are moving in to.

Nice to have for any home owner
Its a pretty great nice to have for any home owner. This is essentially just a log book to jot down any details of any and all maintenance work or home repair or reno or anything that is done to your home. The book is separated by rooms and within these sections, you can write down any details or "log" any changes to your home: paint colors, faucet brands, what's worked on, what's not - it makes remembering every little detail possible and makes tracking that much easier. This book captures everything in one easy and convenient edition. As helpful as it is, I would have liked to see some more home improvement details or helpful content but then again, thats not really the function of the book. For what it does, its perfect.

Great for the pen & paper type
I know technology is a thing, but sometimes having that “basic” thing to rely on the “old school” way is best. I was so happy to find this. I usually have random notes on my phone, apps for this and that, and my husband doesn’t have access to all the information because it’s not readily available. We both like how it’s our master home journal now. I haven’t found much to complain about yet!
