and really like it. I'm quite techy
I have had this bit of kit for a month now, and really like it. I'm quite techy, so the ability to combine Denon H-Fi quality with a DLNA music server was always my goal, the biggest bonus was though the ability to hook it up to speakers of my own choice, and the option to have a sub also if required.Setup took seconds and with a network reservation set it has been totally stable on my home network.I have it connected to a set of Q Accustics 2020i bookshelf speakers and a 60w RMS active Sub woofer, with a bit of crossover fine tuning on the Sub the results a very good. The 2020i speakers seem a good match and the finest details are reproduced with ease, I used 42 strand speaker cable and am very happy with the results.I had read that the unit comes with an EQ bias set for the Denon speakers recommended for it, and so the first thing I did was switch this setting off.It sometimes does take slightly longer than normal to load up a track when working its way through long playlists, but this is minor, and prob more to do with network traffic and less to do with the Denon DRA N4.I don't and won't ever use it over Wi-Fi as this option / bandwidth is very crowded these days, ethernet cable only for me.If I had to come up with a negitive line then it would be the Denon app and its action sometimes to freeze or drop off of the network, but that isn't connected to this hardware, thats more the app designers.

First Denon product which has disappointed.
I had high expectations of this product, which was my fourth Denon midi system, and one I thought would bring me into the 21st Century, enabling me to use both internet radio and my Twonky Media based networked music library. However, I had the following issues:Very slow to switch on in both Internet Radio and Music Server settings - not good when the primary purpose was to listen to the radio during breakfast. The iPod Airplay system did not work consistently - the only was of restoring it was to power off and on the system - then the Airplay would disappear again mid way through playing a track.I could not get the iPad app to work - it simply did not recognise the system. The system stopped working every time I used my microwave oven - the only way of restoring operation was to power off and on (OK a normal environment probably would not be in a kitchen). All in all, very disappointing - the only saving grace is that Amazon were prepared to allow a return and refund! I will probably buy a Denon DM39 instead.

Very Disappointing
I had high hopes when I bought the Denon CEOL Piccolo and to be honest, when it's working properly, it's great and the sound quality is good with a decent pair of speakers, I bought some Q Acoustics. Unfortunately I am having a lot of problems with the Denon turning itself off for no apparent reason and often within 10 seconds of a song being played. It will also turn itself off if left idle for too long, which is fine, but it shouldn't be happening during playback. This is so frustrating as I bought this purely to use with Spotify but find myself listening to less music now than I ever did before purchase. Very disappointing.

Almost five stars
For the money this is an outstanding bit of equipment. Easy to set up, versatile, and works well enough with most sources. Any gaps (currently it seems to have difficulty with the file system when streaming from a USB source) can be bridged using the Denon app or AirPlay.Sound is really good for the money, but note that if you're using different speakers you HAVE to change a default setting that optimises the output for the dedicated Denon speakers. Without doing that the sound is really quite disappointing and totally lacking in presence. You really have to go and look for the setting too, so if you don't happen to chance across it (who reads a manual cover to cover?) I can understand why some people might find the sound quality poor. Easy to fix though, mine sounds great now.

Mini HiFi grade internet radio receiver
Wanted to get something which was nice and compact for a secondary Hi-Fi set-up. I wanted something better looking, better sounding and simpler to use than an existing blue tooth speaker and android tablet combination. The Denon N4 looked a good option for the money. I did not need CD as I have a media server which the Denon could play music from. Internet radio provides access to all stations that are on FM or DAB. It will also play from USB, blue tooth or a line level analogue feed i.e. CD, tape deck etc. The 40 watts RMS per channel is plenty. I have tried the Denon app (android) but mostly use the large supplied remote for navigating around stations and selecting tracks on the media server. The large display works well. I have received two firmware update since purchase in March 16. I have found the system will power up and start playing much quicker (about 10seconds) if you set network control to on. I have the internet connection via wired 100mbit (fast) Ethernet and in has been very reliable. I original used a pair of generic bracket mount speaker and the sound was OK but needed an fair bit of bass boost and some treble cut. I felt the Denon deserved to be partnered with some better speakers so i now have a set of Roth OLi RA1, these sound very nice (see separate review). I am really pleased with the Denon and Roths together, they make a fine Hi-Fi set-up in miniature.PS. The speaker terminals are a bit unusual but took QED 79 strand just fine.

Great device, listen to it all the time
After the initial fun of doing a firmware update, I have found that this device works like a charm, link it with Spotify and some good speakers and the world of music is literally at your fingertips.I have spent hours and hours listening to this.I will say that you really do need to have it linked up to some form of Tablet or Smart Phone to get the best out of it as using the remote is a little clunky.

Well packaged and arrived the next day. With just a brief set up guide the main one on line to download it was difficult to play music from my iPod. The sound is good until you go loud the the speakers sound a bit bass less. All in all I am pleased an upgrade on speakers would make it a great system plus a full manual.

Fantastico
