Jig for mounting plates and hinges with free postage (Fixit Hardware)

Probably OK if starting a new project from scratch but maybe unsuitable if wishing to replace an existing door, or as I was wishing, to place an extra hinge on an existing door. We had Argos wardrobe units with 35mm hole hinges and damage had occurred during a house move which necessitated re-positioning a hinge. This template appeared suitable but upon drilling the hole using the template we discovered that the template did not match the existing holes as expected. I subsequently worked out that I might have been better of ignoring the hole marked in the centre of the 35mm template and using one of the two alternative 'random' holes whose purpose was not immediately obvious. Confusing? Yes - that is the point of my review. Carry out several tests first before committing to your real doors.

While this is actually a reasonable enough little gizmo…….it is actually not quite there. Make sure you measure when cutting cupboard doors for existing units.

This is cheap, it is plastic but if you have lots of doors to do it does save alot of time, so in my view worth the money

I spent so much time doing different measurements which took time but this peace of kit is so easy and fast for fitting hinges, just love it.

This is OK, but careful that the door thickness is standard as there is nothing to warn you of this. If not this jig is useless and the hinges will be in the wrong place.

If you're fitting cupboard doors you really need one of these, and at this price there's no reason not to buy one! It's only a small piece of plastic, but makes the job so much easier.
