The 4400 Complete Collection: Series 1-4

Pretty good TV...and a lot of it! As the series progresses, its direction seems to change...but then, that lessens predictability. What can be rather predictable are the responses from some of the main characters...a frequent feeling of 'seen that before'...so by the end of 4 seasons, many of the character roles had been pretty much played out. BUT...other characters make very welcome returns, along with new faces...and one can settle down with renewed interest. Initially, it may seem a bit 'freak of the week', but as the underlying storyline unfolds, (gradually!), interest grows...and, although the final shows do a fair job of wrapping up, the imagination can continue to wonder what that future world would have held...sci fi is all about the imagination. There is some 'filling'...but with such a lot of episodes...well, you do get your money's worth. Could do without the 'Already on the 4400...' recap montages before every episode...but that's TV series. Many of the cast display first class acting...and watching the 'Maia' character grow is truly fascinating...an exceptional little actress there! Overall, a good buy for entertainment. Not a patch on 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles' for character development or potential...but 'The 4400' was pretty much complete by cancellation, so at least there is much less frustration! Packaging and play very good...and Amazon delivery as good as usual.

The 4400 Complete Collection (Series 1-4) [DVD The 4400 has to be my favourite T.V. series of all time. Even though it unfortunately only ran for 4 seasons, the development of all the characters, the relationships and the story line flowed flawlessly and every episode felt like it had a purpose rather than just being a filler. The 4400 was well before its time and perhaps this is why it's not known as well as series such as 'Heroes' and 'Lost', but there is definitely something about it which makes it stand out from the atypical science fiction. It is a very rewatchable series and the acting is fantastic, adding to the waves of countless emotions you will feel from anger, sadness, happiness and grief. I would encourage those people who are avid Sci-Fi fans to watch this series but also those people who don't tend to watch much Sci-Fi, it is definitely a series that has something for everyone.

A great start. Sixty years of abductees all delivered back in one go - some with remarkable powers, others likely to develop them. At once suspicions mount. Programmed by aliens in a bid to take over the world? Inevitably sinister Government agencies seek to harness supernatural skills for their own purposes, as with the creation of invincible soldiers. One of those returned is charismatic bearded Jordan Collier. Can he be the Messiah (initials more than a coincidence), he about to challenge The Establishment? For four seasons Seattle tries to come to terms: families torn apart, loyalties tested, unlikely alliances formed. Many will not survive. At the heart of it all is one family. Cop Tom Baldwin has special reasons to be involved: son Kyle for three years in a coma when an attempted abduction went wrong; nephew Shawn the one carried off, now back with the ability to heal. Then there is Diana, his work partner - she adopting young Maia, who disconcertingly can foretell events. Joel Gretsch is ideal in the central role, he the one with whom to identify - eager to do what is right, often not sure what that right is, making mistakes, but surely the key if all is to work out. Many good performances. As ever in such series nowadays, there is a computer wizard - here Marco an entertaining asset. Over thirty hours of viewing, not to mention bonuses - these to be found with Seasons 3 & 4 and worth a look (difficulties of casting, special effects, moral issues raised, two gag reels, etc.). The hope was five seasons, but the axe fell. Consolations are that Season 4 arguably has a satisfying ending of sorts - certain loose ends dealt with, clear indication of what could well lie ahead. Critics can be sniffy and occasionally have reason to be. (SPOILER ALERT!) I had problems in Season 3 when a baby within seconds became about twenty declaring, "I'm sorry for growing up so fast", then trying to seduce Shawn. Scriptwriters with this storyline were not at their best. Overall? There is much to enjoy and indeed to think about. The series may not represent Premier League television, but is well worth giving a try.

Excellent packaging whereby the disks are not stacked on top of each other which seems to be the norm these days. (even with more expensive boxsets) The storyline is also excellent and I feel that this boxset represents fantastic value for money. 5 stars

4400 is a spectacular piece of Science Fiction. It is about 4400 people who hve been abducted over a large period of time and then returned all in one group. Some of these people begin to develop special abilities. The show is very well written, it is funny and also touching and emotional. It shows people at their best and worst and shows how bad we are at reacting to things that are different. I would describe this show as a cross between the X-files, Lost and Heroes. Unfortunatly this show was cancelled due to delays in writing it during the writers strike and a fantastic show was lost. Therefore the final season is ended on a huge cliffhanger that we will never know the answer to. If you like well written, clever science fiction or you like x-files or heroes or any show along those lines this is the show for you.

Good show bad ending

One of the greatest TV shows of the mid-2000's! Wish there had been more seasons. If you like suspense, mystery, family drama and non-stop action. Buy this short-lived series. Money well spent for commercial-free entertainment.

4400 Menschen, die über einen Zeitraum von 60 Jahren verschwanden, tauchen alle zum selben Zeitpunkt wie aus dem Nichts wieder auf! Manche von ihnen besitzen von da an aussergewöhnliche bis unheimliche Fähigkeiten. Was ist mit Ihnen geschehen? Ich habe die erste Folge dieser Serie zufällig im Fernsehen gesehen. Von da an hatte es mich gepackt. Ich habe nach Möglichkeit keine Folge mehr versäumt. Ich empfehle diese Serie unbedingt weiter. Sie ist spannend und immer wieder überraschend. Diese Sammelbox ist ein absolutes Must-Have für alle 4400-Begeisterten und die, die es noch werden wollen! Wissenswert ist, dass die Staffel 1 nur in enlischem Original-Ton zu sehen ist, Staffel 2 bis 4 allerdings auch in Deutsch!!!

die lieferung kam extrem schnell. hatte noch nicht einmal damit gerechnet. die dvds sind sehr praktisch in der box verpackt, so, dass man sie der reihe nach wie in einem buch (aber aus plastik) durchblättern kann. das kannte ich bisher noch nicht von dvd-boxen, aber vllt ist aus in der UK so üblich. die serie an sich ist auch sehr interessant.
