But I do know quality when I see it, and feel it. My daughter and my granddaughter 'cake' make up on, and my 14 years old granddaughter never has enough brushes, so I bought these for her as a belated Christmas present. I thought they looked nice.... and they are nice, with lots of variety in shape and size, and different styles of brush head for different applications.It was the cylindrical shaped 'marble' handles which caught my eye - clean and cool looking - but, of course, not real marble. And I liked the fact that the ends of the handles are straight-cut so they can be stood on end after using, thereby not spreading make up all over the place (my DIL will love me for that). The shiny, gold coloured, aluminium alloy, ferule fascinated me because the make up brushes I remember from the 'old days' seemed to have riveted, flattened ferules. I've studied these brushes at length and cannot see a join, so I have no idea how the ferules are attached to the handles and hold such dense hair. The very high density synthetic hair is so soft and silky, and beautifully and evenly cut, that I gave my face a few strokes with the bigger brushes whilst checking them over, before giving them to my granddaughter. The set comprises the following 12 brushes, but I wouldn't know what to do with which:1 x Oblique nose shadow brush1 x Eye shadow brush1 x Foundation brush1 x Eye shadow brush1 x Blooming brush1 x Eyebrows brush1 x Flat head brush1 x Powder brush-handle1 x Oblique brush1 x Eyeliner brush1 x Blush brush1 x Repair brushI'm a fanatical recycler who hates unnecessary packaging, but I feel the packaging for these brushes could have been a bit better, especially as I bought them for a gift. They came in an attractive, coloured, marble patterned box, but all 12 brushes were loose together just inside a clear flat cellophane bag within - which was split down one side. I appreciate that additional packaging would add to their cost, and I would not normally advocate this, but these brushes would look so much nicer presented in a thin, preformed, plastic tray.
