Fabulous product - great results if you respect the principle of “less is more”.
I’ve used Osmo PolyX for a number of years now on a range of interior wood surfaces, and it has consistently given excellent, hard-wearing results when applied correctly. My main uses are teak kitchen worktops and beech flooring in my dining room and study. In both cases, the finish has proven durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain. PREPARATION AND APPLICATION Good preparation is key. I sand the surfaces initially with 80 grit, followed by 120 grit, then remove dust with a lightly damp microfibre cloth and allow the wood to dry fully. For application, I use a simple sponge pad (a basic scouring sponge works perfectly). I apply a very small amount of oil and spread it extremely thinly across the surface—so thin that it often feels as though almost nothing is being applied. The sponge is worked across the surface until it is nearly dry, and then reloaded. The key is restraint: multiple very thin coats rather than any attempt to build the finish in one pass. COATS AND CURING I typically apply three thin coats, allowing each one to cure overnight in between. I do not usually sand or “denib” between coats—just a light wipe with an almost dry, lint-free microfibre cloth is sufficient if needed. Patience is important here. The finish develops gradually, and each coat subtly deepens the appearance of the wood without creating a heavy surface film. FINISH AND PERFORMANCE On kitchen worktops—particularly around sinks and taps—the gloss version provides excellent protection against water ingress and staining. The teak retains its warmth while gaining a richer, more even tone over time. The gloss finish itself is elegant rather than mirror-like. It gives a soft surface sheen that reflects light gently, which works particularly well in darker rooms. FINAL THOUGHTS... Osmo PolyX is a highly effective finish that is very forgiving when used with a light touch. The results are consistently excellent provided the product is applied in very thin layers with patience between coats. Note: There is a strong solvent-type odour that comes off the product as it hardens. I don't mind it, it isn't a horrible smell, but it is intense, so use in a well-ventilated room. Fabulous product—easy to get great results if you respect the principle of “less is more”.

Perfect varnish
Very easy to apply. The satin finish is excellent. Hard wearing. I use it on oak worktops and also wooden shower room floor as it is waterproof. I reapply every year. Expensive, but worth it.

Super nice finish, easy application, fairly low odour
I've used OSMO products quite a lot and I like them. This is no exception applying 2 coats to new french oak really brings out the grain and creates a nice golden finish with a hard finish. I applied quite liberally and it produces a nice semi satin sheen. This is of course a clear. I've applied both by brush and by cloth. I think my preferred method is brush but then quickly a wipe over with a cloth/pad that is pre-wet with the oil, that produces a high quality finish. There is some slight odour for a day or so but certainly not overpowering.

Good but pricey.
Lovely product but quite expensive.

Excellent, tough, waterproof clear hard wax finish. Perfect for refurbishing Ercol beech.
Brilliant stuff. A perfect clear re-finish for 60 year old Ercol beech dining/kitchen chairs. Waterproof, durable, pleasant to apply. Some careful pre-sanding and two or three coats look indistinguishable from the original lacquer as it came from the shop. Five well deserved stars.

bought for Oak dinning table, no regrets
This is easy to use with fantastic results. I bought it after acquiring a solid oak dining table that need some TLC. I gave the table a all-round good sand down then a lighter grit paper to get a nice smooth finish. buffed and remove any sawdust. Then applied first coat of clear Osmo Polyx Oil with a reasonable quality brush and left for the recommended 12 hours to dry. Then sanded back with 600 grit then 800 grit wet n dry paper to get a nice smooth finish. Then applied a second coat and left this to dry for 24 hours before buffing and applying a light bees wax polish for that final shine. fantastic finish that makes the natural grain pop. It has given the table a new lease of life. (Oh and there is plenty left in the tin to give the table a refresh every year for another three or four years. I bought the 0.75lt tin.) Can't recommend this product enough.

Great product
Absolutely fabulous! Easy to apply, not too fumey and if it gets on your hands it is easily washed off (just feels a little sticky under water at first). Will buy again

Fantastic Finish and Easy to Apply
Installed new kitchen with hardwood worktops - in the past I've just used Danish oil, which is okay, but needs re-visiting quite frequently. Read about this product and saw it in use on YouTube, and opted for it. Excellent finish which really enhanced the appearance, and definitely provides a good surface. Get a decent brush to apply, and between coats wrap it in cling film and put it in the freezer and you're good to go after 24 hours when you're ready to apply another coat. Applied two coats to worktop and wooden upstands (about 4.5 square metres), and I've still got nearly half a tin left for any touch-ups in the future. No odour at all.

Gut und günstig. Gute abweisende Schutzschicht.

Macht Freude.
