The best option I found for spruce floor boards to preserve the original appearance
Despite the associated price tag, this product delivered exactly what my research online claimed. So the colour or finish is described as “raw” and it is probably as close to that, wi try out darkening the wood, but still giving a smooth silky finish, without just leaving the wood bare. I used a cloth to apply it, it does say 24 hours drying time before applying a second coat quickly, so so far I have the first coat on. I tried a roller and a brush before settling on the cloth as to apply thinly the first two applicators just gave me too much of a varied result, with the cloth it wa easy then to wipe off the excess product to give what I feel is a perfect coverage. The tin says it (750ml) will do 30 metres squared. I have done a 12 metre squared area of spruce floor boards and used maybe 2/5 of the tin so I am confident the cloth application method has enabled me to achieve the optimum application rate. So coverage estimation was pretty accurate. The smell of the product is pretty congenial as well… it sort of combines with the freshly sanded wood smell So overall ease of application and product quality were great. It would have been better though if I had been able to obtain a sample sachet as fast as I could obtain a large tin as this is a very expensive product and I would have liked to have been able to test it first. Having used the clear satin before which does affect the colour as per again, internet research which backs up my personal findings, if you want to keep the natural colour, this does it. The photos show it going on in the guest photo, and the finished look in the second photo. The third photo compares it to a polyurethane varnish in satin finish showing how much darker the wood could go if I did not get it right. The wood is spruce. The finish when dry is Matt and does not look wet.

Brilliant protection without being Orange
Amazing item. Protected my unfinished doors without turning them orange. Really easy to work with.

Wood protector.
This is a form of hard wax oils that absorb into the wood, there are various shades which to choose from. the one I used was 3044 Transparent raw, this was applied to oak finished doors and the finish was as natural to the oak as I could get as some of the others would give a slight orange/warm tint. This Osmo was the type which was white in colour in the tin. the 750mm tin i had did five (5) full doors both sides and two coats. the way I applied the wax oil was with a brush and a micro cloth I would advise to look on "U" tube for application hints. Use latex gloves as it is very sticky and is not easy to remove from your hands, I didn't find the smell that bad nowhere near as wrong as paint/varnish, dries fairly quickly but you need to leave it 24hrs before second application/coat.

Much nicer than varnish
If used according to instructions it’s a fantastic product. Stir well and as you work . I used this on my oak staircase. Rubbed down with medium sandpaper then using a brush I applied the oil very thinly spreading it out evenly. after just about 5 mins I wiped the surface with a cloth . I only did small sections at a time . After 24 hours I rubbed gently with a fine sandpaper then applied a second coat . Leaves an odour that last a good week . I used the product in December but would probably want to use again in the warmer months when I could leave windows open more frequently.

Amazing finish but only if you follow the rules…
This looks amazing both on our sanded pine floors and used on an oak chest of drawers. It cures to a rock hard, matte sheen and is a nightmare to sand back off, so I guess it’s pretty hard wearing. HOWEVER - it contains a bit of white pigment to give its natural look so it is totally unforgiving if applied a bit thicker, or if any brush marks, or pools within dips. This is also more obvious on darker bits of the wood. We first applied to part of our floor using a brush and it was far too thick, and most of it needed sanded back. You therefore should apply very thinly. Use a microfibre cloth, and coat wood fully but leave no streaks. After 18-24 hours, sand very lightly by hand using fine sandpaper. Wipe away dust, and re-coat thinly again using the cloth. To finish, give the lightest of sands using a fine sandpaper after at least another 18 hours, just to smooth. Or you can use a non-scratch dish scourer. And I guarantee you’ll be happy. Coverage is better than advertised. 2.5 litres did us two coats of about 40 square metres, freshly sanded pine.

Wouldn’t use anything else!
third time of using this oil in ‘raw’ and wouldn’t use anything else. After sanding off the old stain, we applied two coats of this for a natural colour look. Using a lint free cloth, my husband and I liberally applied with one cloth and removed the excess with another. So easy to use, we’re relatively slap dash in application which has caused no issues anytime we’ve used it, just make sure you don’t over apply and wipe up excess/ any white makes before it dries. Quick drying, second coat applied 24 hours later leaving a hard and durable finish. 750ml goes so far, I wouldn’t listen to the calculator, we did 2 Costa’s in 2 large rooms and still had leftovers.

The finishing is fantastic. Will buy again. Be aware of a few things: 1. It has very intense paint smell that lasts a few weeks. First week is quite strong. 2. Wear appropriate PPE as skin contact with hardwax oil will lead to allergy reactions for most people. The finished surface will not.

I couldnt believe it when i found this product that actually keeps pale wood pale after sealing. All other products make the wood dark, but this was perfect. it looks like the natural raw wood but protected from day to day life. Will not use any other product from now on.
