these are fantastic boots! I have the problem of small feet big calves, especially since i had a car accident and have a swelling on my left leg that will never get better. The boots are big for the size, (I got a 5, when I'm actually a 4 I really didn't need to do that!) you don't need to get the next size up to wear another pair of socks, but the foot is so well designed you can wear these without the extra pair of socks when the weather isn't cold. They are warm, stylish, practical and waterproof with a reasonable price tag - everything you need in a boot. There is one thing that the ladies with curvy calves will need to know - the boots have a zip up the back, with a leather fold up the zip. This is brilliant as you can wear them without them being zipped up, and keeps the boot waterproof but when you zip the boots up this leather fold takes up some space in the width of boot, just something to consider. I've been wearing these boots every day since i got them, riding, up the yard, dog walking, shopping etc and they look good and actually make me feel good. I never thought I would be able to get good quality, stylish leather boots without getting them tailor made - i'm so happy, and will be getting another pair. I used to get upset as most boots would only get half way up my calf and I had given up hope of ever getting some long boots for riding. Well done to Gallop for filling this gap in the market and making us curvy girls feel great about wearing gorgeous boots!

Ok, bought for dog walking so I did not buy for its original use. Having said that I buy snow boots, yard boots so can make a pretty good comparison on the general usage as even the best riders do walk. They were great to start with but we're not waterproof, even after being treated which the main reason I bought them. Smart looking, very comfy just no good to me. Thrown away after 5 months use as didn't want to risk an outbreak of trench foot. My current yard boots that cost under £20 are due to be replaced in the next week or so as they have split and they have lasted me the same amount of time.

Perfect boots for people who have wide calves, only boots i have found that have managed to fit me! Very impressed!!

Bought these a while ago, still are in great condition (a couple creases here and there, but the leather isn't cracking or anything). Super comfy (slightly on the big side, but I just wear 2 pairs of socks which makes them perfect for winter). I get lots of compliments on their looks. I do make sure I'm using a leather balm on them regularly, but just what I would expect from any leather product. A bargain at their price!
