Why doesn't my rotring 232430 profil drawing board have the l-system as shown in the photo?

The possible answer is that the 232430 is an A4 drawing board and is considerably smaller than the A3, so doesn't need the extra fixing.

The A4 board surface curves away under the clamps, this bends the paper, shouldn't the drawing board hold the paper flat (it's only job!)?

The thicker the paper the worse it gets I gave up with the clamps and just use tape in fact I’ve completely given up with this board it’s just not practical the A3 will be better but that’s got its own problems like bowing in the middle
