They are very bright and work well for garages. I bought these initially as grow lights for my seedlings and they worked perfectly and we bought more to use in the garage. The color and lumens are perfect for starting seeds indoors and it’s easy to plug them in to an automated timer and never have to remember to turn them on or off. They don’t run up the energy bill and the tops do get a little hot but the actual bulb does not. Being able to link them together and having toggle switches on the cord is a big plus. They are all plastic (and pretty thin plastic at that) and they lack any type of hood or casing. However, no complaints at all about performance -- they light up a room with ease. The 6500K light temp also works great for seed starting, which is the primary way I use these.The units can be easily linked together. I also like that each light comes with a chain and S hooks (in addition to wall anchors for a flush mount). The on/off switch on the cord is also a useful feature that is often lacking in these types of LED shop lights.While these will not stand up well to any sort of bumping or hits compared with more expensive units, once they are hung up they are typically out of harm's way. Thus, I won't mark it down for build quality issues.
