Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s name is today synonymous with genius, but his life was a whirlwind of controversy, jealousy, and clashing egos. In this highly readable short biography, Alexander Kennedy brings Mozart and his times vividly to life. Here we see the sweeping grandeur of the courts Mozart visited as a child prodigy, and the grasping desperation of his scheming father. We follow the composer through the flush of his first love up through his marriage to Constanze Weber, and from his first, half-plagiarized concertos to masterpieces like The Magic Flute. We watch Mozart clash with family and friends, with archbishops and emperors, and we feel again the tragedy of his mysterious early death. And above all, we hear his eternal music: music that captivated a continent, defined a genre, and changed the world. “I pay no attention whatever to anybody's praise or blame. Review: I love this author, his books are all great reads and this is worth the price. - This is the second of this author’s books I’ve purchased this month and I have to say I really enjoy his writing style. He writes with intelligence, has plenty of interesting facts and details, and has clearly researched his topics. Yet at no point did I feel bored, bogged down with heavy prose or put to sleep with useless information. I prefer factual topics for reading, but it’s really hard to find a good book that is also a light read. These books are great for this. I was able to read a subject I enjoyed, put it down and pick up when I felt like it and not feel overwhelmed or too educational while reading. I don’t want to say too much about the actual book, as I hate spoilers, but to say that he makes Mozart both interesting and explains some of how he suffered for his music in a way that didn’t feel too emotional, just facts to let you see and decide for yourself. Being a kindle book I received it instantly, so I could start it straight away. The pricing changes depending if you want an actual copy, a kindle or if you are part of the kindle unlimited scheme, but even at the normal kindle price of £1.99 it’s still a great bargain. I think I’ll be collecting all his books, as these are a lovely read and I have found a new series for the summer. Review: great - the overall introduce to Mozart's entire life is concise and every story is not as much detailed as expected. However, this is the first biography I read about Mozart. My sincere respect and love to him has been developed after reading his story, not only because of his talents or great musics he composed, but his spirits once again confirmed my belief, genius as Mozart was, he still desperately work on practice and composition, just as he stated"no one has given so much care to the study of composition as I was." Although Mozart was an exception of my thoughts on great artists. His fame came before his death, which was not the most cases of great artists. Mozart, I would not say as a revolutionist in music history as the majority of his works are for the joy of nobilities or for pursuing his position in court. These motives were somewhat under the influence of his father. However, Leopold was as great as his talented son in the way of his sharp sniff on his son's intelligence as well as his "on-the- travel" education. We can always find the traces of how a great people has been shaped, but it is impossible to replicate a genius as fortune or destiny was uniquely engraved with one's birth.

Quite a sad insight into the life of a child prodigy xx
I have read quite a few books from Alexander Kennedy over recent weeks and months and i find his books to be very interesting and from a different perspective from any other books or stories which i have read. He is an excellent author who obviously carries out an extensive amount of research, the sheer effort put into each and every book is to be applauded. Due to his excellent writing skills i am finding myself more and more interested to read about icons from a personal life perspective rather than just knowing what they created, achieved or invented, Alexander Kennedy tells the story of how they struggled to achieve their fame or fortune, who helped or even who hindered them in their journey. With this book : Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Who everybody has heard of but before reading this knew nothing much more than he was a child prodigy and created amazing, totally world wide recognisable music. Reading this as it goes into the depth of his struggles as a child, his conflicts with so many, his loves and his utterly way too early death. I was glad to read that he influenced so many other artists but it is still such a shame that he died so young as he could have provided so much more. I have received this at a reduced cost or free in return for an honest review and I would be happy to point out any failures or flaws with any product I review as much as I will also highlight good point and versatility with products I have reviewed. I have completed my review with other buyers in mind and I hope that the information is of use to any prospective buyers.

An Iconic Character in History
This Ebook was available to download immediately and as a reader of factual historical books and also Biographies I was hoping for something in-between with this Ebook. I still like the warmth and tactile feel of a physical book but am also willing to read other types of media also as this usually means a cheaper price! This Ebook is written by Alexander Kennedy who has been producing a library of Ebooks on iconic and history making men and women. The series includes: Albert Einstein – A Life of Genius Benjamin Franklin – A Life of Brilliance Sir Isaac Newton – A Life of Discovery Charles Darwin – A Life of Evolution Thomas Edison – A Life of Invention President Nixon – A Life of Leadership President Roosevelt – A Life of Leadership Amadeus Mozart – A Life of Genius Jack the Ripper – A Life of Crime So as you can see there is a theme to the Ebooks and makes a nice little collection. This Ebooks chronicles the life of one of history’s greatest Composers whose works have inspired, entertained and stood the test of time. The Ebook is well written, easy to use and follow, although sometime just grazes over parts of Mozart’s Life and Works. If you are wanting the “everything you need to know about Mozart and his work” this is not for you, but it does have a suitable depth for you to know an awful lot about him and his background. The book is divided in various chapters covering his early years all the way through to his legacy, all of them in a very easy to read style which keeps the readers interested in the book during all the reading. As I mentioned before, the book is really entertaining, easy to read and full of interesting facts. I would highly recommend it to a anyone who wants to know a bit more about Mozart. A truly educational and insightful read
A true insight into the life of the talented composer. I received this book for free for the purpose of review and although I have not read the full book, what I have read has been information rich and truly entertaining. The Author shows the progression of the 18th century composers life from his birth in 1756 to his early death in 1791 and does so in great detail. Including detail of his parents and his travels. A fantastic read for anyone with an interest in the composer or classical opera. Very impressed with this book and I shall continue to read intently

Fascinating and a quick and easy read. I highly recommend it !
This is a very good read for those with even a mild interest in music, especially the classical composers. Pretty much all of us are familiar Mozart, his famous music and some of his basic story. I found it extremely fascinating to learn a broader view of the man. It covers his life from his extremely early start with his first composition at the age of 3, the composers he learnt from as well as those he inspired, his relationships, his childhood travelling and playing the piano, and finally his early death at the age of 35 (including the possible cause of his death). I won't go into any further details as I think that it is best if you read the book and discover them for yourselves. The book is a quick read and written for everyone to enjoy. Despite the subject matter as a historical biography, I didn't find it boring at all (like many historical texts or biographies tend to be). Quite the contrary, it is obviously written to capture the attention of a general audience. The book presents his life as snippets of information making it a very pleasant and easy read. It is also not a very long book so it didn't take me very long to complete it. I actually think that this works to its favour as it captures your attention with interesting tidbits and doesn't drag on or get boring. I definitely recommend this book and I have enjoyed reading several of the books from the Alexander Kennedy series. I find them all absolutely intriguing. For those that decide to get the eBook, I hope you learn from it and enjoy it as much as I did. ---------------------------------- Note: I received this product for free or at a discounted rate in exchange for an unbiased, honest review as provided here. As a consumer advocate, I believe in providing quality and honest feedback and receiving a product at a discounted rate will never affect my opinions. Please feel free to ask me any questions; I will do my best to help.

“I pay no attention whatever to anybody's praise or blame. I simply follow my own feelings” - Mozart
Iowa author and biographer Alexander Kennedy writes about people – from famous artists, scientists, presidents, and politicians to serial murderers! His goal is to provide short books that distill what makes great people great. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is his featured genius for this book and Alexander clearly discuses the meaning of ‘genius’ before he offers the summation of Mozart’s life. ‘Genius comes in a wide variety, but can be broken down into two types: practical and creative. While practical geniuses have contributed to society in ways that are completely unfathomable— picture, for a moment, what life would be like without Philo Farnsworth’s invention of the television, for instance— it is the creative geniuses that have always been the ones to capture the collective imagination of society. Perhaps it is because many of their skills seem like things average people can actually learn— after all, there is no formal education necessary to write the next Great Novel; just ask Harper Lee, H.G. Wells, or Charles Dickens— but learning about their lives and finding out what motivated them has always fascinated people. Maybe they hoped to find the key to these people’s success, to discover what made their minds come up with things that were extraordinary, even revolutionary. Sadly, at least as far as some geniuses are concerned, there is simply no substitute for natural talent. Mozart’s personal repertoire simply could not have been written by someone who was merely studious and hardworking; it required a level of intelligence and intuition that cannot be taught. The way he worked, the way he thought, was so unique and groundbreaking that it changed music forever. He and his contemporary, Joseph Haydn, were directly responsible for literally creating an entirely new genre of music: Classical. But his achievements and genius are both well-documented elsewhere. What is truly astonishing about Mozart is the level of dedication he demonstrated from the tender age of three and continued throughout his tragically short life. By the time he died at thirty-five, Mozart had composed greater than six hundred individual pieces, from operas to quartets— though his most famous remains Twelve Variations on “Ah vous dirai-je, Maman,” the melody that became “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” And after that fine overview of ‘genius’ He discusses Mozart form childhood through European concert tours as a pianist, his gradual growth into composition and his increasing fame and epic successes with symphonies, operas, concerti, chamber music and choral works. His role in the history of music remains one of the hallmarks of classical music. Alexander writes with finely researched information but at all times makes his biography sound like a novel. That is the gift of and excellent biographer! Grady Harp, August 16

An Insightful and Enjoya
I cannot recommend this book enough. In grade school we learned about Mozart in our music classes. I've always had an interest in him from this. This book opened up a whole new world to be about him. I enjoyed the brisk pace of the book and how much interesting information was packed into only 100 pages. Normally non-fiction books can drag and be slightly boring. This book is nothing like your average textbook or non-fiction book. It flows extremely well and I did not get bored once. This is the perfect edition to your kindle library if you love learning about interesting historical figures. It covers his music with his inspirations and compositions. It includes his family dynamics, romantic life and his possible cause of death. This insightful novel opens up a new world to Mozart outside of his music and what you previously knew of him. I personally went to Prague and toured the concert halls he played but this book was so much more interesting and informative that even that first hand experience. Please get and download this book. You will not be disappointed.

Enjoyable but just scratches the surface
I learned a lot about Mozart from this slim biography but it is more like a long magazine article than a bio. It did make me hungry for more but so many biographies of musicians become music reviews. This one thankfully avoids that pitfall. It is very strictly a biographical sketch. The best thing is that it provides historical context and helps you understand why Mozart is so widely revered. What he accomplished in his short life was remarkable.
