My husband bought this reel for me. I really like it. Its build strong and casts well. Adjustments are smooth and easy. Also, the weight and feel are great. Highly recommend it!

It is not a bad reel. If you are new to bait casters do not get this one. Bait casters take a little getting used to in order to keep backlash from ruining your day. Save up and get a better reel. You can get an Abu Garcia for $100 at Walmart. Just not a quality-made reel.

I’m pleasantly surprised to the quality for the price coming from a “no-name brand”. Will be getting another.

This bait casting reel is light weight. I love how easy to use and easy to assemble. This is sturdy and will last a long time. Great value for money! I highly recommend!

I was waiting for this reel to give it a try. The photo shows a right handed reel. I specified a right handed reel. The box says right handed reel. However, it contains a reel for left handed people. That said, it looks to be fairly well constructed and probably works fairly well.The people in charge of advertising an packaging think a right handed reel has the crank on the right side. Unfortunately, you cast with the dominant hand, and crank with the non dominant hand. I will have to train myself to use this with my left hand.

This JOHNCOO reel has an incredibly smooth, yet powerful drag system. It’s an excellent reel for beginners that don’t have a lot of experience with bait casters. My grandson who had previously been deterred from bait casters due to bird nesting, has found this reel to be perfect. After a few initial adjustments he has experienced no issues and has been fishing several times.It is lightweight but very sturdy. We have used it for both salt and freshwater fishing and it performed well every time.It is important to note that the photos on the listing for right hand versus left hand are the same photo so may cause confusion when ordering.If you want a reel with the crank handle on the LEFT side then order the left-handed reel. If you want a reel with the crank handle on the RIGHT side then order the right-handed reel and you won’t be disappointed. Interpretation seems to vary from person to person but we ordered a left-handed reel and did receive a reel with the crank on the left side.

Nice reel. Smooth, quiet, casts nicely. HOWEVER, as 'Wizard D' said in his review of this reel, the people who write the marketing for this reel don't know about right hand or left hand reels. Simple: if you are left handed, you want the crank on the right side of the reel, if you are right handed, you want the crank on the left side of the reel. Now I have to send it back. Maybe Wizard D will trade me?Update review: After casting it a few times, I find it's not as smooth as other bait casters but it casts ok, retrieves ok at 5:1 ratio, and it's low profile which I like.

This is an initial review that I will be filling in as I use this reel more. Out of the box, it feels great. Smooth winding action with easily adjustable controls. You can tell it's not high end, the controls are not as smooth as some of my other more expensive reels, but I'm very certain this will get the job done. Once I fish with this, I will let you know more. For now, 4 stars.
