Sure beats a nail and string any day, holds pencil well. The tape measure portion is pretty accurate, the only variance really come in the size of pencil used, I say always double check that radius you are looking for with another tape measure. Review: Do Not Waste you money! - Have gad to order 2 of these things. They are utter crap. They are cheaply made and poorly assembled. On top of the frustration in both deliveries the supposedly included central axis needle is nor included. This renders the thing completrly useless. I had to shave down a toothpick to make an axis needle. Don't Waste Your Money. Addendum: it's flimsy constriction majes for inaccurate use with corcles its supposed to draw being off center and not evenly circular. More like a wavy spirel. If I could give it fewer stars I would. ## Features - Use With A Standard Pencil: Don’t fuss with similar drawing compass tools or certain protractors that require you to use a custom lead writing utensil. Ours allows you to use any #2 pencil. - Carry In Your Toolbox – Unlike a Beam Compass : Draw circles and arcs of varying radius’ with our retractable circle drawing tool that measures just 5” long when contracted. - Use It For Variable Straight Edges Too: Just flip it over and our measuring tape compass becomes a straight edge tool. Mark your desired distance from an edge with ease. - Metric And Imperial Measurements Up to 6ft Long: Unless you need a circle drawn with a diameter larger than 12 feet, Rocksteel’s rotating tape measure will get the job done. - Measurement NOT OFF by 2 inches: The tape measure measures the distance from the center point where the pin is placed to where the pencil is. Some users are thinking the accuracy is off because the tape starts at ~ 2.5" rather than 0, it is inaccurate. However, that is the distance between pencil & center when the tape is fully retracted. See Image #2 for clarification. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0BS5RBY6S | | Best Sellers Rank | #32,598 in Office Products ( See Top 100 in Office Products ) #16 in Drafting Compasses | | Blade Length | 78.74 inches | | Blade Material | High Carbon Steel | | Brand | Rocksteel | | Brand Name | Rocksteel | | Case Material | Plastic or Metal | | Case Material Type | Plastic or Metal | | Color | black | | Customer Reviews | 3.5 out of 5 stars 436 Reviews | | Item Highlight | Alternative For Large Compass, Trammel, Protractor For Drawing Circles | | Item Weight | 0.06 kg | | Lock Type | Pin | | Manufacturer | SILV LLC | | Measurement Accuracy | High accuracy | | Model | RT-1112023 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Part Number | RT-1112023 | | UPC | 855655008266 | | Warranty Description | 2 Year Manufacturer Warranty | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Rocksteel - **Case Material:** Plastic or Metal - **Color:** black - **Item Weight:** 0.06 kg - **Measurement Accuracy:** High accuracy ## Images ![Roto Tape Compass | Rotating Tape Measure Beam Compass, Circle Drawing Tool - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81qAXcJYRjL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: can you use an exacto knife instead of a pencil?** A: Yes, as long as the shaft of the exacto knife is similar in diameter to a #2 pencil. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you need to a large draw circles or arcs, don't hesitate just buy it! *by R***. on March 2, 2026* Excellent product that is very easy to use, just tap a small finish nail in and your good to go. Sure beats a nail and string any day, holds pencil well. The tape measure portion is pretty accurate, the only variance really come in the size of pencil used, I say always double check that radius you are looking for with another tape measure. ### ⭐ Do Not Waste you money! *by R***R on December 10, 2024* Have gad to order 2 of these things. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good - Room for Improvement *by G***L on May 27, 2026* On the upside this is GREAT for what it does - draw big circle. I build sets for a community theatre and often need to fabricate something with a curved edge or a circle element. This is THE tool for it - way better than a string or drilling a hole in a yard stick/board. Downside: NEEDS TO ALLOW FOR A SCREW/NAIL AS CENTER PIN The center hole is tiny - pencil lead size - and a SEPARATE metal "pin" that you put through this hole to set the center of your circle. It works well, but keeping up with that tiny pin over time is going to be difficult. If the hole where big enough to fit a standard drywall screw, anyone can replace a lost pin easily. FIX THIS AND I WOULD RE-BUY AND GIVE 5 STARS! Warning: YOU MUST NOT RETRACT THE HEAD TOO FAST if you simple release the tape to retract on its own, the extra weight of the head will whip violently enough to bend the tape permanently at the tip (already happened to me) and likely would break it off entirely over time. Maybe the spring is overpowered? Best to retract the tape manually! ## Frequently Bought Together - Roto Tape Compass | Rotating Tape Measure Beam Compass Alternative Circle Drawing Tool to Draw Arcs (Not 2 inches Short!) - Mr. Pen- Professional Large Compass for Woodworking, 12 Inch Compass with Wing, Compass for Geometry, Compass Drawing Tool, Woodworking Compass, Pencil Compass for Carpenter, Drafting, Drawing Compass - Woodworking Compass Scriber, Portable Aluminum Alloy Woodworking Compass Tool, Adjustable Metric/Inch Arc Drawing Ruler Circle Drawing Ruler Marking Gauge Circle Marking Tool --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sk/products/509512748-roto-tape-compass-rotating-tape-measure-beam-compass-circle-drawing](https://www.desertcart.sk/products/509512748-roto-tape-compass-rotating-tape-measure-beam-compass-circle-drawing) --- *Product available on Desertcart Slovakia* *Store origin: SK* *Last updated: 2026-11-08*
