I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a layer of product/residue but, like all brow gels, it's sort of like applying clear mascara but to the brows. The product stiffens your brows like hair gel. I wouldn't say that it's very visible and it's a decent product, especially given the price point. Are you looking for a residue-free product?

It’s not a good quality at all I don’t recommend

It doesn’t work that well and makes lashes look wet even when it’s dried so I don’t think it’d make a difference if you wore it in water x
