i am a handtool woodworker and do it more of as a hobby but iv ebeen wanting some powertools for a while and chose this along with a mini bandsaw to help speeduo the making process of my spoons and decorations, this machine is great dor that im very happy with it, it is fairly loud but sands quickly and saves me alot of time plus a great bonus being able to pay for it over 5 months with this amazon credit thingy, klarna is also good but they dont offer that on amazon so im happy they have there own one now. if your a handtool woodworker wanting somthing that can take some of the labour of your making i recommend this, havent used it in any big projects but im sure it would handle it fine :).

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this; at the price it seemed to good to be true but I have to say that I am happy with the purchase. It has already been a huge time saver in sanding off work and the different size bobbins are great. If you have not used one of these before the secret is to not apply too much pressure - otherwise you will end up with ridges in your work! Of course, this does mean that you can get nice smoothly sanded inside curves in your work if you can match them up to one of the bobbins!I have used this for cleaning up surfaces after bandsawing and also for shaping (with a little extra pressure as already mentioned).Each bobbin has its own disc that the bobbin fits inside and several different size washers to hold the different sizes. A nice feature is the storage around the unit of the bobbins, discs and washers. You cannot see them in the photos but there are spindles around the back to store the bobbins on when not in use and slots for the discs. Great idea; no more searching around for missing bits (assuming you put them back in place, that is!). The table doesn't tilt but that is not something I require; those of you who need a tilting table will be best served by one of the other (more expensive) units.There are two things which stop this from being a 5 star unit. Firstly the discs are not completely flush with the metal top on the unit. This means that care must be taken to avoid smaller pieces of work getting stuck on the step between the disc and table. It isn't out by much but it doesn't really need to be to make a difference! My second gripe - and this can be really frustrating - is that the larger bobbins have a tendancy for the sanding tube to rise up off the bobbin! every time this happens I have to stop the machine and push the tube back down onto the bobbin before I can continue sanding. It only happens on the biggest of the bobbins but it is a shame that Draper did not provide a top securing disc the right size for each bobbin. I guess that costs are a factor here.All in all this has increased my work throughput by so much that I am running out of timber!

An excellent piece of kit. I use this in the home / hobby woodwork shop and am unsure how I coped without it!It's supplied with sanding drums that are pretty coarse and it's easy as a new user to 'dig-in' a bit too hard which makes undulations in the workpiece - as I found out. I don't think finer drums are available, which is a bit of a shame.At the time Amazon's price was a few £ more expensive than the cheapest I could find. But I trust Amazon's service so didn't mind that small extra cost. And my faith was fully justified because Amazon delivered within 36 hours. Brilliant!!All in all, a superb piece of machinery delivered by a superb on-line dealer. Thanks Amazon!J

For the price it's a nice piece of kit. The other models that look the same are often more money and are just a different badge, so I presume they all come out of the same Chinese factory.

The reason I have only given the machine 3 stars is it failed on me after about 3 work sessions and this must raise questions about the quality of the motor ( it was burning around the armature). However, I contacted both Draper and Amazon and had a new unit within 3 days of first complaint. Bot companies were excellent so far as responding to a problem were concerned. Would recomend Draper products now just for that.
