Is the fabric cotton or polyester or a mixture of both?

I'm afraid that I do not know as I sent this item to my daughters residential home to be used there. I can tell you that it works efficiently and stays in place.

Does this work for incontenent people

Yes it protects the mattress....I also bought some Kyle sheets for my mum as they are absorbent and can be machine washed.

This one is single but there are double bed ones around.

There are no tumble drying instructions on the label, what settings should be used?

I tend to hang it up on a door over night...rather than tumble drying. I have put ours on a normal to low setting just to take excess water off . They dry very quickly.
