The sandpapaer is fine, the polishing puck/disk is clearly not made for any standard fiber ferrule
As I said, the polishing puck (what you put the tip of the fiber optic ferrule in) has way too big of a hole (3+mm) for the 2.5mm ferrule. You cannot get a good and even polish. Even if this were designed to simulate the slight curvature on the tip of the ferrule by allowing it to tilt around in the opening, it is impractical to implement in practice. I just use a metal one designed specifically for this application. The paper is fine, but still need a finer grade to reach a proper polish. It's an okay addition to a fiber polishing kit, but not a complete kit within itself.

not usable to polish a fiber
Even the "fine" paper is way to course to polish a fiber with it ... you never be able to finish up a fiber with that combination.
