A much-needed guide to this increasingly popular divination system written by a Lenormand master and teacher. “Whether you are a novice seeking to immerse yourself in the magic of Lenormand or a seasoned diviner eager to expand your understanding, The Language of Lenormand will be your steadfast companion.” ―from the foreword by Carrie Paris The Language of Lenormand is one of the clearest guides ever written for this beloved divination system. Popular in Europe for centuries, the Lenormand deck, consisting of thirty-six numbered and named cards, has now been embraced in North America by cartomancers, tarot enthusiasts, oracle readers, and many others. Each card depicts an archetype―a fox, a snake, a coffin, or whip, for example―rather than tarot’s somewhat more involved symbology. This makes the Lenormand system an easy entry point to divination. Widely respected authority Erika Robinson believes that Lenormand is not just a deck of cards but also a language that, if mastered, can help you achieve self-empowerment and the ability to attain the life you desire. A longtime English teacher, she helps readers become fluent in the language of Lenormand. This clearly written, accessible guide to the meanings of each card requires no prior knowledge of Lenormand, but is simultaneously a sophisticated book that takes Lenormand to the next level, providing greater insights and elucidation for those already familiar with it. Review: The Lenormand Book That Cracked the Code - The Northern New Jersey Tarot Group is made up of card readers, from tarot to oracle to lenormand and beyond. We made the decision to jump into working with lenormand early in 2023 and, after a somewhat failed approach of using multiple resources to study the system, I decided we needed one clear, approachable and exercise-filled book to set a solid baseline. When I learned Erika Robinson's book, "The Language of Lenormand: A Practical Guide for Everyday Divination", was coming out in the fall of 2023, the decision was simple...we would be working with Erika's book! I had met Erika years prior at several tarot conferences and was familiar with her experience and authority with lenormand. I knew that if what I had experienced of Erika's expertise were to be captured in book format, that we'd be in very good hands. We are now virtually finished with "The Language of Lenormand" and can confidently say that Erkia's method for teaching the meanings of the cards, how to read them in relation to the cards around them, what spreads are appropriate to use and when and the forward-thinking view of lenormand and divination in general, has prepared all of us for an incredibly rewarding journey with this form of cartomancy. I am grateful for the time and attention Erika put into writing this book and creating a work that allows anyone coming to lenormand the ability to walk away with the skills necessary to effectively work with the cards. This is more than just a book informing the reader to memorize card images, names and numbers. Erika has created a working system that gives the reader the flexibility to move and grow within it and to not fear that they are "doing it wrong". It is both insightful and empowering to the reader! I would recommend "The Language of Lenormand" as the Book of Choice for anyone coming to this system of divination. This book is written for both new and experienced readers, providing a solid foundation as well as the flexibility to expand on traditional practice. Rhonda Alin Northern New Jersey Tarot Review: Teaching Myself for "comfort and counsel" - While I have learned the basics of both Runes & Tarot, I was first exposed to Lenormand when I had a reading done by the author of "The Language of Lenormand" - Erika Robinson. The reading - and subsequent ones- proved to be healing and helpful in challenging times. When Erika wrote her book, which is referred to as a "practical guide for everyday divination" I bought it to learn more about this method, eager to see if I could do it myself. I'm so glad the book offers both a narrative, where the reader learns more about Erika and how she found her way to Lenormand, as well as clear instructions on how to read. In her intro, Erika says, "Leonormand is a road back to ourselves, to each other, to our understanding that we are never alone, but instead held, supported, guided, by a Universe just waiting for us to seek its comfort and counsel." This is just what I'm seeking. I'm so glad she takes us through each card and then offers us beginners strategies to start with the five-card spread. As noted in the book, Lenormand is a form of storytelling, which does indeed offer users both "comfort and counsel." I will be reading this book multiple times. Highly recommend.

Layered, clear and insightful exploration of Lenormand!
After discovering Erika's work through a podcast interview, I was looking forward to receiving her book in the mail. It did not disappoint! She breaks the Lenormand oracle into very digestible portions, and layers the information in a way that it strategically builds on what was shared previously. (She mentions this is an instructional technique called "scaffolding" she used as a teacher - and it was effective for me as a reader as well.) If you want to go one step further, be sure to pick up her "Erika's Lenormand of Hope" from La Panthère ... the cards, art, and insightful meanings are lush and expansive. I've read a few other books on Lenormand - some remain too high level, while others go into exhaustive detail which can be overwhelming for a beginner. Erika Robinson's "The Language of Lenormand" was the perfect balance of detail and perspective from an experienced reader - I highly recommend this book if you have even the slightest interest in Lenormand. After reading it, you'll be hooked!

The Mama Bear of Lenormand guides
I am.a member of Christiana Gaudet's You Tube. Christiana had Erika (the author) on a couple of times and Erika did a great job of explaining what Lenormand is (if you aren't sure about whether you want this book, watch the You Tube to see if you might like it). I loved those two You-Tubes so I bought the book(s). I started out with just the paperback book. Loved it so much that I also bought the Kindle as well as the Audible book. I loved the size of the book, the way it was organized, as well as the amount of time she spent with each chapter. I would LOVE to see a second book--maybe one where it just has a lot of examples of combinations of cards in various spreads (with solutions). It could be a companion piece to this one (one that doesn't repeat what is in this one). I like to come up with my own reading and then look to see what Erika came up with (no wrong answers). I am finding Lenormand easier to learn than Tarot. The one thing I was slightly disappointed with was that Erika didn't do the narration herself on the audiobook. The narrator did a fine job, but after hearing Erika on You Tube (Christiana's site), I really liked Erika's voice and thought that using her own voice would have been a great choice. Hoping to see more from Erika on Lenormand!

Mixed review
This book is wonderful in so many ways. I love the concept of introducing three cards at a time and working with those three cards to form Lenormand "sentences" before moving on to three more. I love including the card number each time a card name is mentioned to aid in memorization. And I greatly appreciate the author's deep knowledge of poetry and literature, as well as teaching, that contribute to this book's beauty and success as a learning tool. The only thing I take issue with is that the cards are presented as if they are always "read" from left to right. In most other Lenormand books I've read, cards are described as modifying the card that comes before; e.g. Woman followed by Clover(luck) would be "a lucky woman," with Clover modifying the card that came before: Woman. The author here doesn't mention anything about that, and seems to interpret the cards in the same way we'd construct and read an ordinary sentence- always left to right. I find this a little confusing and limiting. It becomes more so when using longer strings of cards. I was also a little put off by the discussing of the Clouds card. The author implied that the traditional interpretation of the dark side of the clouds on the Cloud card being bad and the white side of the clouds being good was racist. It's not-- dark clouds in nature portend rain and storms, while white fluffy clouds usually don't forecast rain, simple as that. All that being said, this is an extremely well-written book. The exercises are helpful but brief enough not to make you feel bogged down with "homework" before you can move on. It's so encouraging to read a relatively short book that really does pack in a lot of learning. Many Lenormand books either feel incomplete if short, or overwhelming if long. This one is "just right."

SUCH A GOOD READ!!
I have been a part of the Lenormand world for as long as Erika has, and it's great to go back to where it all began for alot of the members of the Lenormand community. It's like having your own private tutor guiding you every step of the way. The information Erika gives you in this invaluable tome is priceless, and she lays it out for you in the simplest form possible which inevitably dispels any fears, doubt, or confusion you may have in learning the oracle's secrets. In this book she makes it all make sense. You are guaranteed to be able to start reading Lenormand by the time you reach the end of this book. For the beginner, this book is a treasure. For the seasoned reader, it is a faithful companion you can always turn to for insight, and guidance. It has something for everyone. The section on the Grand Tableu is a complete gem; the culmination of everything she teaches you from page 1. By the time you get to it in the book, you will have complete understanding of how it works, and how to read one for yourself, and anyone, confidently, and accurately. A MUST HAVE for your divination library.

This book is so well laid out that learning this system her way is easy and super fun. After reading it I am taking Erika's online Lenormand course. Can't wait to get started.

Love it!
I just received my book. I'm still on the introduction, page 3 and have flipped through it. I love it already! It's beautifully written, the art is also beautiful and clear. I like the assignments to help readers to learn and grow. Thank you Erika! I'm so glad I bought it, been watching the show for months, longing for the book, now it's here!

Decepcionante.
Muito superficial, não acrescenta grandes informações. Sites na internet são mais completos. Não gaste sei dinheiro nisso.

Hasta ahora bien.
Hasta ahora bastante bien. La autora es sutil. Clars. Sencilla. Podría decir que hasta dulce. El contenido es explicado con sencillez. Por lo que se absorve con facilidad.

Excellent primer. Very good.
I could not disagree more with the reviewer who said that this book is basically facile, doesn't add much, and that the internet is a better source. I've read tarot for the best part of 50 years, and that tradition has always served my purpose well, but, in need of a new experience , I decided to investigate Lenormand. This book is extremely good in demonstrating various ways of reading and giving very comprehensive summaries of the meanings of each card. I would suggest that it is better to buy a pack of cards which has an instruction leaflet and to buy the one that you just seem most attracted to. Go to that elementary booklet with the cards and absorb those meanings as best you can. That is a basis upon which to work. Then go to this book and you will find those basic meanings will mostly be included with many others derived as a result of the author's experience... This book takes time to work through. The various ways of reading the spreads, such as 'knighting' 'chaining' and using 'houses' are not found on youtube, if they are I haven't found them yet.... so in my opinion this book is a really good primer with many helpful tips and examples given from her experience. The whole concept is very different to Tarot although I do find some interesting commonalities. A good purchase.

This book is a 'MUST HAVE'!
This book is a ’MUST HAVE’ for anyone interested in delving into or expanding upon knowledge of the Lenormand system. Author Erika Robinson has decades of experience with teaching, and it shows! Erika approaches the introduction of the cards by piecing them out into sections with helpful examples and room to write your own notes and conclusions. Erika explains the traditional layouts for Lenormand, ie: the nine box spread, the grande tableau, chaining and counting technique, as well as Erika’s 23 card spread and a few more bonus spreads. This book is an amazing teaching and learning tool for all of us and I strongly recommend it. Keep your eyes peeled because it looks like there will also be a Lenormand deck released by Erika Robinson in the very near future. I’m confident it will make a perfect companion deck to this book.
