I tried the tiller on a piece of ground that has 1/2" to 1" rocks throughout, and the tiller did work, but .... BUT I had to stop after a few feet due to the rocks being thrown all over the place by the high-speed blades. So, I do NOT recommend it and probably would not recommend any tiller that did not have a real slow speed. PS, the Amazon description said Gas Powered; I purchased the Electric Powered unit and it worked great for digging up dirt to over 10" deep. Hope this helps

Q: Is this difficult to push? I have some hard clay soil.

Dear customer Because the tiller steel blades rotate forward, to make it work best you should pull backwards. It could handle the hard clay soil well.
