Has anyone used this to cover books

Not used this to cover books,excellent product for food wrapping.

is it ok for microwave use?

Package says Microwave Safe,To prevent wrap from melting,foods high in fat,bacon,sugar,pastries Should not come into contact with wrap in the microwave.Turn back one corner,to vent excess steam.

Can you use this in simmering water eg to make poached egg?

Never tried it but you can use cling film to make poached eggs

Can this be used in the oven?

I wouldn't think so as would just melt. I've only used to seal food in fridge and for craft projects.
