Classic top-sider now in dark brown
I've worn these shoes for 20 years and I wear a pair out every year. They're probably the most comfortable walking shoes I've ever owned and they're suitable for almost every occasion. The fit is true to size, and as you wear them, the leather gets softer and will adapt perfectly to your foot. Dark brown is perfect because now because they look better in an office setting. The sole is padded, and makes being on your feet easier. It has good arch support as well. Although these are boat shoes, they will still slip on wet surfaces. The finish of the leather doesn't lend itself to polish, and anything you try to put on (mink oil, neutral polish, saddle soap) will change the look. The idea is that you embrace the shoe getting beat up because it adds character. You'll like these shoes a lot. Here's my tip. If these shoes get so dirty that you need to clean them, throw them in the washer and use lots of neutral polish on them. They'll get a patina like an old baseball glove.

Great shoe if you get the real thing -- watch out for FAKE shoes here!!!
Got these a few days ago. I have another pair of these in another color, ordered from Z A P P O S, so I know there's no funny business going on with those. The minute these showed up, I opened them up and tried them on. They felt.... weird. Couldn't figure out why, since I love my other pair so much. Tried one of the "old" ones on (just got those a month ago, by the way) with one of the new ones, and it was like night and day as far as comfort. The new ones were tight (not just because they were new), and felt cheaply manufactured, even though they're supposed to be the same exact shoe, right? That warranted a closer inspection, comparing the "old" pair I had (again, which I just got a month ago) with the brand new pair. Long story somewhat short: The stitching was off, the imprint on the Sperry label was slightly off, the label itself was sewn on crooked, and there were a few other things as well. I'm guessing these are fakes, and I'd bet my next paycheck on it. It's either that, or Sperry's quality control has completely fallen off the wagon in the last month or so. I'm going with fake. To be fair: they are GOOD fake shoes in the sense that they almost fooled me, but not quite. I purchased them through Amazon, supplied by Peltz shoes.BUYER BEWARE - you might want to look elsewhere. If you can get the real deal, they're amazing shoes. The fake ones... not so much. These went back immediately today.

I bought these for my husband. His shoes must be cut low enough on the sides to accommodate his protruding ankle bones, which these do. He has needed casual black shoes for some time now. Since he despises shoe-shopping I crossed my fingers and ordered three different pair, another Sperry and a Timberland. Today he opened them all and tried on these, the shoes that looked the best to him. He hasn’t taken them off yet. The others are already boxed up, labeled, and ready for return. Success!

I love Sperry's shoes
I love Sperry's shoes, especially the billfish ultralite's. I have bought them every year for 4 yrs for my job as I am an IT analyst at a hospital and do LOTS of walking. These shoes have never failed to provide the comfort and support I need, and I love that they are also slip resistant. I only knocked off one star because normally I get 10.5's, but when I got these they were actually too small and I had to return them to get a half size up.

Light weight and comfortable
Although very stiff when I first tried them on, they became comfortable after bending them all the way backwards (sole to heal)and then reverse and bend them all the way from the front topside toe to heel. I have watched many a shoe salesman do this growing up and never forgot how much it loosened up a tight filling shoe. I wear them as intended, no socks. I can leave them on all day and walk long distances in them. Very light weight.

Good shoes
I normally wear a 10 or 10.5 depending on the brand. I got these in a 10 which fits perfect without socks or with thin socks. They are just a little snug with thicker socks but still tolerable. If you plan on wearing these without socks, which I often do, consider trying the lower of your size range, it worked for me. I like the shoes, they look nice and no complaints on the quality.

Very happy with these shoes
Even lighter in weight than I expected, and considerably more comfortable than my other Sperry Topsider boat shoes. Due to them being lighter, there's a possibility they will not last as long but that remains to be seen since I got them less than a week ago. I'd advise to get a waterproofing spray as someone else suggested (one that doesn't change or darken the color - Revivex Nubuck Suade & Fabric Water Proofing did not change the color at all. Be sure to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS with this waterproofing spray.) While less important to me than comfort, these shoes look good!

Attractive but narrow
Though I like these, based on recent experience, I purchased a size 9 rather than my typical 8.5. Sperry used to run as a lightly generous M width. Now they run narrow. To combat this I ordered size 9M. Good thing. These are snug in the width. I'm disappointed Sperry has chosen to go this route. Could be the difference in Chinese made and USA made. Otherwise, these are well-made and generally comfortable with good support. The last three pairs of Sperry shoes have had this width issue -- all different styles, so it's obviously a factor spec.
