Works fine for the price; after using a while I have some new requirements.
After owning an espresso machine for almost 2 decades (well, 3 machines, having slowly upgraded to nicer ones) I recently was upping my espresso game and heard that WDT was a common process most folks are doing these days.I wanted to try it out cheaply, and this tool fit the bill.Using a WDT tool definitely makes a difference in the ability to get a nice smooth tamp. I would say it is probably 100% necessary to at _least_ have a portafilter dosing funnel to make use of this, otherwise you're going to get grinds everywhere. Ideally, you're also single-dosing your beans by weight. Adding all these steps to my workflow has improved my coffee by quite a lot -- to be fair, the single-dose change probably was the biggest driver of the improvement, but I also believe the WDT process helps and is very easy to do.After using this tool I would prefer to have one that I don't have to unscrew from it's container each time. Often I am already holding my portafilter (with a funnel balanced on it) in one hand, and I find myself having to unscrew it from the holder with the other. It's doable but not ideal. I will probably keep this one for my camping espresso setup and buy one that has a stand for home use. That said, if you just want to try it, these are a great way to test it out cheaply.

Love the size and the cap
I can take it everywhere with me. Works great for portable and travel solutions...

Need wider needle gap
Needles are to close to each other so it tends to move entire mass of coffee instead if kinda brushing it

It helps
It looks very nice. Amazing for the price really. It seems to alleviate the need to wack the porta filter against the counter (which I do, many don't) in order to settle the coffee before tamping. It does break up the clumps too. Needles are very fine, thin and will bend easily if you accidentally push down on it or it gets cought in the basket holes. Nice addition to a coffee making ritual.

Portability comes at a cost
The idea of a portable WDT is great, and this one seems fairly sturdy and made from nice materials. It feels and looks great. However, by necessity the needles are kind of closely spaced compared to a full size WDT and it makes a noticeable difference when using it. You kind of have to really go nuts with this one to get the kind of coverage you get with just a few passes of a larger tool. It will get the job done, just not as easily. It also did not include any spare needles or instructions on how to replace them, which most other WDTs do; that said, I’ve never actually needed to replace needles and this is affordable enough to replace the whole tool should the need arise. At the end of the day, I’m just not sure what the use case for this is compared to a full-size WDT. Whatever you’re making espresso in, even if it is as portable as it can be, is bound to be much larger than a WDT anyway. It seems like bringing a full-size tool or, you know, just not using one like people did for decades, is a better option than the compromise here. Still, it’s well made and feels nice, so I can’t fault it too much.

Cheap for a reason!
Sadly this little baby broke. Didn’t last long in my coffee station. Used it maybe 4 times and I wasn’t flicking the wrist either! Just didn’t hold up. It’s also very very tiny!

Compact and easy to use
Works great with my Breville Barista Express. The compact size is great, and I love that it can be stored in the tube so that the prongs don't get bent (although I do find them to be pretty sturdy).
