Perfect for DIY bows

Very firm, sturdy! I played with clipping and unclipping it. Very easy, and held up to my abuse. I haven't put the ribbon on yet, but they are the perfect size for what I need them for. And the price is great!

The clip mechanisms work well. They are just like any other clip of its kind. The size is a little bit smaller than most other ready-made clips that you might buy, but they are still a great size for making home-made bows or decorative clips. They have holes on the sides where you can attach a bow, or you can wrap the center of the bow around the top section of the clip. You could glue flowers to the top of the clip. There are many possibilities for DIY projects with these clips, and your creations would make wonderful gifts for friends and family. It’s a very low price to pay for the amount of clips that you get. You can use scraps of left-over fabric to make bows, creating beautiful hair bows at a fraction of the price than what you would pay for ready-made ones. Plus, you can add a little “hand-made” badge to the inside, and it will be such a special, personal gift for anyone!

These are very well made, but the measurements aren't quite accurate. There's some measurements that aren't indicated; we had assumed the inside measurements would be the same as older clips of the same length. My aunt upcycles 1990s hair bows or creates new ones using blank French-style clips. Her bows are designed to hold all the hair into a single ponytail or to fasten back just the sides.Because almost all of the blank barrettes are manufactured in China, each manufacturer uses a different set of measurements for their barrettes. You really have to see these in person to make sure of the size.We didn't remove a clip from this package, since we returned them. But my aunt could visually see these clips were narrower and smaller than the 3.1" clips she has purchased in the past. What I did was take the photo of the clip and size it down, putting an 3.1" older clip next to it so you can get an idea of the differences in dimensions.If you have thick hair, you cannot use these to pull your hair back into a single ponytail. For pulling up the sides of your hair and clipping them together, these will work. My aunt has thin, fine hair and these clips were too small for a single ponytail.The inside dimensions are shorter on these clips compared to her vintage 1990s bows with clips of the same width and length. (3.1") The reason is the mechanisms are closer together on these clips than on the older ones. So they will not hold as much hair.The width states .6" (3/5") but it is more like .4" (3/16") in width. So these barrettes are a bit narrower than older clips of the same 3.1" length. For your usual inside measurement, it is about 2.3" from the hinge to the fastener in my aunt's older barrettes. For these, it is about 1.8-1.9", so that's why they won't hold as much hair.Again, if you are using these for children's bows or for bows to pull back just the sides of the hair, these will work quite nicely. For the price, you get 50 clips, so it's a great deal. These are some nice clips, great for a lot of DIY projects. Like all the other clips of this type, they tend to catch the hair a bit and they are on the thin side so they won't hold a lot of hair, but they are easy to use and easy to customize. You get quite a lot so let your imagination run wild.
