Caran d'Ache849 Metal Range Ball Pen - Metal Red

Bright this as a gift for a friend, she loved it. Just be aware that it only comes in a clear plastic bag, so no presentation box! Caran d'Ache is a great brand with nicely designed, smooth writing pens.

Nice feel and weight

Smart & vibrant red, easy to grip the pen barrel (unlike the really shiny ones where my fingers slip down it). Pen barrel has become discoloured with some blue ink which is difficult to wipe/wash off, which is disappointing. However, these 849 style pens are my goto pen of choice (got a yellow one too).

Unfortunately, the refill did not work properly. At first it was OK then dried up completely, then OK for a day then back to not writing at all. Gave up in the end and returned it. I also felt it was greatly over-priced for what it was. Quite cheap looking despite its supposed metal construction.

If, like me, you want an excellent pen for writing in red, you will need to buy a Caran D'Asche red refill. Lovely pen though.

These are great pens. They come with the medium tipped cartridge, I prefer the broad so I buy them separately, but most folks would probably be OK with the medium

Love it. Writes really well

I've used these pens for the last 35 - 40 years. I found the first one in a home we'd bought, kept it and used it and have been using 'em ever since. Some I lose, some get broken or crushed on the job, some just disappear, but they always get replaced with another just like the old one. I say "just like" but actually I do vary the colors -- I guess I get moody sometimes. I have four sons and it's become their go-to pen also. I only wish Caran D'ache made mechanical pencils that used .09 lead, because then I'd use them too. Anyway, the pens write smooth, fit great in a shirt pocket or a hip pocket in my jeans, and the mechanics hold up under pretty hard use. I like them.

You'd think that for different colors for these pens, you'd have the ink coming in that corresponding colors as well. So I honestly was expecting to write in red ink, though only to get black. So be careful other peeps, this comes in black ink!Though my own black colored Caran dache pen was starting to get broken from my own fault of putting it in a washing machine. Another one isn't so bad.

La spedizione è stata precisissima. La penna viene consegnata in un imballo di carte quindi prive della custodia di metallo ma è ben imballata ed è arrivata in perfette condizioni.Come giudizio sulla penna direi che scrive molto bene ma personalmente la ho trovata più leggera si quel che mi aspettassi. Comunque la consiglio, è costruita bene e non perde colore.
