GridCharge EV Charger Residential: Level 2, 30 Amp, with 25 foot cord

I used this charger for 10 months with no problems. got it cheap for my Bolt EV and was easily installed. Just recently the charger indicates that there is a fault after only 10 miles of charge is put into my car. Its worked as advertised up until this point but I can't recommend a unit that is over $300 and works for not even a year. I called the phone number for Eluminocity's NY location and I was brought to their voicemail... Kind of feels like they took my money and ran.

This is a new product without much history so I did a lot of research before choosing it. The design firm is German, but the product is manufactured in China, and if you take a close look, it's almost identical to the Bosch PowerMax II and the Leviton level-2 charger. What sold me is the excellent customer service I received when I started asking questions about all this on the contact page on the eluminosity website. I learned that this unit has an on/off button on the side, so you can turn off the power when it's not in use. Also, because I went with an installer recommended by eluminosity, I received a $200 rebate on the cost of installation. I chose the plug-in model for portability, even though in my state of Oregon, a rebate is offered for EVSE but only if it's hardwired.I like the simple and rugged design of this unit. It's very easy to see when it's turned on, as a steady green light shows. Then when the car is being charged, the charging light blinks. I've only charged my car with it once, but it worked like a charm.I decided against a similar Clipper Creek unit simply because it was bulkier and the mounting bracket didn't fit my particular situation. I also decided against the ChargePoint charger with wireless connectivity because the car (Chevy Bolt) already lets you program charge times, and I'm one who likes to keep life as simple as possible. On the other hand, I have to say that the ChargePoint DC fast chargers out on the interstate are a great boon to EV drivers and I couldn't be happier with my ChargePoint account for those long trips.

Edit: MAY 2019Suddenly stopped working today. Eluminocity’s web site no longer has a mention of it on their web site. Maybe they changed their business model because of their rotten product?Wonderful charger and was simple for my electrician to install. I use it with a 2017 Chevy Bolt.very happy with my purchase.

This charger is so worth getting if you have an electric car! Absolutely no issues installing and using it. My car charges from near empty in less than 2 1/2 hours.
