this is a great product.i switched to henna around three years ago for a myriad of reasons, none of which matter here cept for one thing. i have long thick black (asian/indian) hair that was dry, frizzy, curly and wavy etc. henna over the months did a superb job of taming my hair, but it also had a couple of negative effects on a curly like me, not only did i find my curls had started to drop out but i also found my hair becoming super dry and flyaway and static-laden.this is where a product like this comes in. cassia obovata is a conditioner for dry hair. the only thing it has in common with henna is that both henna and cassia are green in powder form.is it a colourant i hear you ask? in a (mild) manner of speaking, yes, if you have blonde hair or greys. it will naturally lighten and brighten but there is a caveat to this because as with all natural products, how it works will depend on your own hair (and as long as you are realistic and don't expect to see salon dramatic changes)give it a try if you're still unsure. at worst, your colour won't have changed but your hair will be beautifully conditioned and feel very very thick.on someone with my hair type, it serves a dual purpose; it conditions, prevents dryness, adds amazing thickness and in time will hopefully counter-act some of the curl drop that henna has left me with. i just wish i'd started using cassia same time as i started using henna.and yes, i'm aware of amla but i prefer what cassia does for my hair. amla just feels like effort, for nothing.for anyone wondering, yes, cassia impacts colour-take on hair when using henna. it dulls it a little. if i use henna on its own, my greys are a beautiful deep red (check out my reviews to see what i use) but if i do a mix of cassia and henna then my greys go a red-brown that is not as vibrant but, i can live with it since i am getting some of my waves back.in summary, this is an excellent product for conditioning your hair. don't hesitate if that's all you want it for. if you are using it in conjunction with another product like me, then do a test run and see how it will impact (be that conditioning or colour retention)

Gorgeous golden shine
Very nice smell and lightened up the henna I used with, but had some little twigs in the powder I had to fish out :o {powder itself very fine and easy to use}. Gonna purchase again, my hair is amazing! :)

All good
I'm a natural blond in my 30's and would say about a 5th of my hair is unnoticeable grey, this will not lighten it but dose cover grey and gives my hair life back. I still keep all my different tones and natural highlights and use lemon juice etc to lighten it in between treatments. I only use camomile and almond oil in the mixture as acid with it brings out the deeper golden tone and as i'm a light blond i found doing that do dark for me, also add a teaspoon on rhubarb root powder. My hair comes out amazing soft, not one can guess its not all mine and the best thing is as a natural blond light changes the tone and this still keeps that element happening and i still get people zoning out on my hair as they are trying to figure it out. and yes i was white blond till i was 25 and naturally my hair went more golden so this just looks like a natural blond. Really pleased and best thing you can freeze you mixture and do your roots as often as needed. The pack gives you a cap and will be ordering a larger park next time to save money. Left it on for about 4-5 and to wash it out you need to wash about 7 times (might be less if you don't use oil) and use a wide tooth to give it a hand.

Not like other cassia
I've been using cassia for about 10 years (with lemon juice) to blonde up my grey hairs. I'm a natural blonde and this process works really well for me. However, I bought this brand recently and despite looking the same as the others, it didn't work at all. I noticed that when I added the water and lemon juice to make a paste, it had a very coarse and grainy texture which I thought was unusual. Really disappointed and will definitely be avoiding this brand in future.

good quality
This is the third brand of Cassia I tried and, so far, the most convenient quality for me. It seems particularly fine, which makes it easier to apply and easier to rinse out.As to what it does or doesn't do to the hair, like most hair products this depend a lot on individual hair structure, other products you use, etc. so I don't know how much my experience can help anyone. It can be used as conditioner and as dye for light hair (to get a gold tone or strawberry tone, depending on how you mix it). It has a similar effect to henna, but hardly colours (again, depends on how you prepare it), and it's nowhere near as permanent as henna.I have dark blond hair and only use it as deep conditioner once a month or so. My hair seems fuller, smoother and shinier with it, for 3-4 weeks or so. I also get a little bit of golden shine from it, but that fades quickly. Cassia works a lot better for me since switched to natural shampoos (silicone-free etc.) but that might be just me. Still, washing it out the hair can feel dry, similar to how it feels after a henna or shikakai treatment, and in my experience that usually goes away naturally when I let the hair dry without brushing, combing or air-drying it. Sometimes I don't have the time for that, then I wash it out with a good amount of natural conditioner.

it seemed to soothe my scalp psoriasis so I suppose I'd recommend it for that
Didn't really lighten my hair noticeably and it make it feel quite dry to be honest. On the plus side though, it seemed to soothe my scalp psoriasis so I suppose I'd recommend it for that.

This Cassia is of inferior quality with consequence , much less beneficial for hair . I will be sticking with "ITS Pure " You sometimes get what you pay for .This product took a great deal of time to arrive although the seller has tried to rectify this , it was a royal mail issue so is not reflected n star rating
