A superb piece of kit
It is extremely easy to use -no effort involved apart from pushing a button and operating a lever. Our log splitter had a hip replacement operation 2 months ago and he is using it today. Well worth the money Wish we had had one years ago! Clifford James' customer service excellent too.It is heavy so if you buy the stand as well, it is a 2 person job to add the stand and you will need spanners.

A Brilliant Time Saver.
My husband and son have been chopping wood with an axe for a few years now when I bought this Logmaster for them. We can fly through the wood now and it's a lot physically easier for them. You will get through the wood quicker if you have two people using this. One to operate it and another at the other end of the machine holding on to each side of the wood and putting it in the log store (saves bending over time and time again to pick up the pieces). Just be sure to wear gloves and keep hands away from the actual metal point that splits the wood. Took a while to assemble but not too difficult. A good buy that will last for years to come and it will cut larger pieces of wood, no problem. We have filled two large wood stores for the coming winter in less than a week.

Two Faulty Units... However EXCELLENT Customer Service from seller CLIFFORD JAMES
I unfortunately have now had 2 Logmaster Log Splitters that developed electrical faults after a few months of relatively light use. I would not recommend the Logmaster range, I would however recommend the seller Clifford James who have a superb Customer Service team that dealt with the issues in a very quick and professional manner. They have been excellent with their communications and made a full refund with no fuss or bother - thank you Ana and Chris. I would definitely not buy another Logmaster product but would not hesitate to use the services of Clifford James who are an excellent example of how an online store should operate, especially when a product repeatedly fails!

A powerful and quality machine, excellent delivery service
This is a heavy machine (box says 56KG) and the driver delivering it was extremely helpful, phoning in advance and getting it into my garage for me on delivery. I've not split many logs with it yet but from a test run on 20 logs (willow) it went through them like a knife through butter, I'm very pleased with it compared to my neighbour's weak looking 5 ton machine. However I've only given it 4 stars for two reasons - which I'm not too bothered about, but as these features exist on cheaper machines, I'd expected them to be on this (although I did not check before buying - it's just obvious it should have the features): (1) it only has one wedge - the other end is a flat plate that pushes the wood. My neighbour's machine has a wedge at each end. I think this makes it easier to split the wood without thinking which end will be easiest to split. It also means, on my machine, one end of the log has to be reasonably flat otherwise it will ride up out of the machine, whereas a wedge would grip it. That said, on the 20 logs I just split, I was able to overcome this by turning the non-flat logs upside down sometimes and some people might argue a flat end is easier than a wedge on some shapes of log. It looks like the flat end is removable so, if this proves a problem, I might get someone to weld me up a replacement in the form of a wedge. (2) It has no "stop" to prevent the ram returning all the way to its base position. This means, when splitting logs shorter that 53cm, you waste time waiting for the ram to trundle up to each short log. My neighbour's cheap machine has a stop. I found solution was to insert a second log to make up most of the difference. Overall I'm pretty happy with the investment.

My husband is very happy!
What more can I say, he assembled it himself (and he's not the most practical!). Thinks the machine is wonderful - easy to use and does the job effortlessly. Highly recommended :)

Worth the Money!
Arrived on time. So far I have just tested it out, but what fun! This makes log splitting much safer because I'm not a great shot with an axe type splitter. The stand supplied is essential because it saves bending over so much. After a few minutes of the test I had a sizeable pile of wood ready for the log burner. Worth the money!

Being of a certain age I was beginning to struggle creating my own log pile but this unit has completely transformed the situation for me and will now be able continue my own logging for many years to come. The unit is exceedingly easy to handle and control safely and handles all the types of timber I have to log including hardwoods.
