This was exactly what I was looking for to complete my craft room as a cutting table!! I bought 2 so they could butt up next to each other when drop leaves extended for a huge cutting area for quilts, clothes, etc. In a spare (empty nester) bedroom they can roll right into a closet when not in use!! Can’t afford a dream box, so I built my own and this was a great addition. Rolls super smooth on carpet, SOLID material, fun to put together, 3.5 hrs with 2 ppl, storage is great!!! Wanted to show it is not just for a kitchen. So happy this item!!! I will be adding cutting surface on top.

I love this Island!! Yes it took some time to put together but let me say the instructions were so clear! Lots of pieces are the reason, but absolutely worth it. My husband helped with the doors to keep the level and easier to screw in other than that I did it solo. Definitely need a screwdriver, you could use a drill/screw gun but use caution I think that’s how some bad reviews complained about boards splitting. If you go too fast it could happen (that’s with anything really), safer with a regular screwdriver. I would purchase this again and maybe will anyway for the craft room, it would be perfect for that too. Very sturdy, good quality, easy easy clear instructions everything was labeled and matched up great value!

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because it isn’t perfect. Having said that….for the money it’s pretty darn close. I read previous reviews complaining about how difficult it is to put together and sometimes pieces are missing or damaged. I was lucky in that regard, everything was there and nothing damaged. If it was real wood it would cost ten times more and likely be smaller because of the weight. It has a lot of storage and prep space. It’s easy to move around and having an outlet is really useful. Despite the fact that’s it’s engineered wood, it looks nice. As for the assembly….it is like a puzzle. I am an older adult and was able to do it myself. Pay attention to both the instructions, the pictures and your own brain. If you look at it and think ahead to the next steps then it will make sense. I would not use any power tools. Some reviews complained about screws splitting the boards but I would venture to guess they were using an electric screwdriver. It will take some time to assemble but it’s really not that difficult. The smaller wood top was a little scratched but was able to get it out with an oil cleaner. Does not feel flimsy. Rolls around great. The only thing I expected was rubber wheels vs. plastic but nothing I can’t change later if I choose to do so. Directions could have been broken down a little bit better. Was not difficult to put together. Holes in directions don’t match the holes on the actual unit, but put together fine. Did not have any issues with screws breaking, etc. took about 1.5 hours to put together with 2 people.

I ordered this kitchen island for my mom who recently moved to an apartment with a small kitchen. I had my doubts about the quality of this island because it was only $160 but I am very happy with the finished product. It comes unassembled and as you can imagine there are a lot of parts. I would recommend an electric screwdriver as there are a multitude of screws involved in the assembly of this unit. Other than the time it took to assemble (approx. 2 hours) it went together easily. It sits on castors that can be locked to prevent it from moving but it I don't think they are needed. My mom is 87 years old, and it is not too difficult for her to pull it away from the wall to use the drop leaf top. The drop leaf is fabulous. It goes up easily and gives her more room for baking preparations which she loves to do. The added storage is really good. It's almost 18 inches deep and 36 inches high so it can hold an enormous amount of kitchen items. The only negative I have is the $80 shipping. I think it's a bit misleading to advertise this island for $160 and then tack on another $80 for shipping bringing it up to $240. I've seen other furniture items that do not charge nearly as much for shipping. That being said, I still recommend this island. It is functional and attractive.

Horrible island. I put the entire island together and the top slides so much that it exposes the unfinished hoard underneath. The word where the two pieces come together is warped.

I can't stress enough how much I LOVE this island! I don't really have much counter space or storage in my kitchen in my apartment and this provides both. It did take me two days to put together but the directions are straight forward and easy to follow. The island cart itself is very sturdy and made with good materials. I also love the added bonus that it creates a more designated kitchen area. This is the BEST money I have ever spent for my apartment. If you're thinking about getting this, DO IT!
