The material doesn't melt in a gas burner top flame. **Q: What is the highest temperature this will go to?** A: I can't tell you the top end temperature with certainty, but the material has a lot of similarity to Fiberfrax alumina mat and this is good well beyond 1000 C. I put one of my sheets in a stovetop burner flame and it does not melt and will go on to glow a lot like a lantern mantle, which I would estimate to be above 1300C, but this is just an educated guess. There is an organic binder which burns off when heated, but after this the material becomes very white and very difficult to handle afterwards, since there isn't anything to keep the fibers together, so consider each disc single use.
