Stars Of Magic

Great General Close-Up Magic Book
I read a lot of good things about this book. It wasn't until I opened the cover, that I found out the quantity and quality of information Stars of Magic contains. It has magic with coins, cards, cigarettes and other everyday items. I bought the book mainly for the card magic. It has many card tricks, maybe enough to fill a routine. Tricks such as Triumph, Cutting The Aces, and Ambitious Card just to name a few. It is not limited to only selected tricks from one artist. Instead it is filled with the works of over ten different artists. This list includes Dai Vernon, John Scarne, and Francis Carlyle ,Bert Allerton, Ross Bertram , Nate Leipzig , and Max Malini. The Chapters are divided as follows:John Scarne-Series No. 11.Classic Ball Routine2.Triple Coincidence3. A Classic of Magic that Deserves Recognition! FANTASTIC!
As I understand, this was a series a effects by top magicians of the day. Lou Tannen bought the series, compiled them into book form, published the book, and sold them from his magic shop in New York City. When I was in high school, I asked the librarian if she would order the book for the school, as I couldn't afford it. After months of waiting, it arrived! It was well worth the wait! Magic with cards, coins, cigarettes, handkerchiefs, and more... all by masters of the art that are now no longer with us... but still fill the literature. Lots of pictures to make everything clear! Fantastic! The rights appear to have been sold to Paul Fried of D. Robbins, Inc., a wholesaler of magic, books, and novelties. Finally, the rights seem to have been purchased by Meir Yedid of MYMagic. He "cleaned up" the pictures making them sparkle as if they were taken yesterday! Folks... this is a classic treatise of great effects... not for the beginner, but certainly for intermediate and up magicians. You can't go wrong, plus it's a great introduction to yesterday's masters of magic!

Intermediate magic how-to
As a beginner diving into the world of magic, I bought Stars of Magic along with a few other magic books. This book gives a great backstory behind each trick and has neat pictures. However, many of the tricks explanations were difficult to understand before reading other books. (Magic digest, J.B Bobo Modern Coin Magic) I suggest this book as a 2nd/3rd buy. Great book nonetheless

A must own for magicians!
The legendary magician, Tommy Wonder, learned to read English because of this book. Now in its most affordable form with clean photographs and clearer type set, you can learn where so many contemporary magicians gathered the basis of their most enduring routines.

This books will give months of practice and years of joy
This book is talked about all the time in the magic community and for good reason. The effects inside are easy to adapt to "modern" settings. They require a lot of time to put the words into actions but will give so much more than you have to put into it. If you want to learn good magic this is a great place to find it. I would recommend getting some basic coin and card books as well to speed up the learning process.

It has so many excellent sleight-of-hand tricks that it's worth the replacement cost
This was a replacement for the copy I had had for many years. I loaned it out and never got it back. It has so many excellent sleight-of-hand tricks that it's worth the replacement cost. It is such a good book that I replaced it at about the same cost as the original, bought at least thirty years ago.

Great book, but disappointing reprint.
Amazing book, overpriced though considering the disappointing quality of the printing and flimsy binding, for the same price I would have expected a quality hardcover binding.

Gran libro.
Un libro lleno de joya de la magia, y es un recopilatorio de una serié de artículos que salían en cierta periodicidad. No le pongo las 5 estrellas porque algunas fotos por ser viejas, no son totalmente claras, hubiera sido bueno un realce digital.
