## Description

MC-14(G)BLK

Review: Excellent 1.4x Teleconverter for Extended Reach - The Olympus M.Zuiko MC-14 1.4x teleconverter extends compatible OM SYSTEM / Olympus PRO lenses by 1.4x while maintaining strong image quality and only a one-stop light loss, making it ideal for wildlife, sports, and distant subjects. Compared to 2x teleconverters, it offers noticeably better stability, faster autofocus performance, and higher overall image quality due to the lower magnification and reduced light loss. It also increases effective magnification, offering improved close-up and macro-style shooting capabilities, including use with macro lenses such as the M.Zuiko 90mm Macro PRO for greater working distance. It preserves excellent sharpness and overall optical performance, especially with lenses like the 40–150mm f/2.8 PRO and 300mm f/4 PRO. Autofocus remains fast and reliable in most situations, supporting action shooting, and is generally more stable and consistent than what is typically experienced with 2x teleconverters. Compact, lightweight, and weather-sealed, it matches OM SYSTEM PRO build quality and adds minimal bulk, making it a practical way to gain extra reach in the field. Limitations include compatibility with select lenses only, reduced low-light performance due to the light loss, and slightly less background separation than native longer lenses. While 2x teleconverters provide greater reach, they typically introduce more image softness, slower autofocus, and reduced stability compared to the MC-14. Overall, the MC-14 is a high-quality, cost-effective solution for extending reach without sacrificing portability or optical performance, making it a valuable tool for wildlife, sports, and macro-style photographers.
