As a malnutritioned college student aiming to find the cheapest meals with minimum prep time that offers maximal nutrition with maximal storage time, I stumbled upon this gift from God. I thought to myself, how good can a can of freeze dried ground beef be? Something that can last 25 years unopened surely cannot be good; it must be full of unhealthy preservatives and sodium. Then, I read the label and found the ingredients were quite simple, it's basically beef, salt, and spices. On top of that, for 20 servings of meat for 250 calories at 20g of protein per serving, the carnivorous spirit that haunts my sleep and guides me to the meat section of all you can eat buffet lines every Sunday could not resist purchasing a can to try. Upon receiving the can, I realized that it looked like cat food. Then I ate a piece. Mind. Blown. I rehydrated an ounce and slapped it onto some Sailor Boy Pilot Bread and went to chow town, taking every bit of strength in me to avoid eating more since I had to ration my food wisely. This product is either blessed by the Gods or conjured with some of the most powerful magic this planet has ever seen. 5/5 will purchase again.

My dog has mouth cancer and frequently won't eat his kibble and doesn't like soft dog food. My vet recommended rice & hamburger. I found this product and love the ease of use and I use the excess water to flavor the rice for him. I'm vegetarian and can't speak to the taste, but it does look and smell like you expect ground beef to look/smell.

Didn't buy this to open it up this year, so I cannot tell you about taste. If SHTF then protein is going to be the most difficult and important food element here. Unless I can catch the deer that keeps stripping the leaves from the sweet potatoes. If you want a stockpile that is still good when you need it you have options. 1) Live on your stockpile and rotate stock religiously. You can learn a lot about the validity of your plan by eating out of the stockpile. But if you want set and forget...or bury remotely, then this is tiresome. 2) Production. The Harvest Right is real, and the cheap way if you are stocking for a community rather than a couple. But if I spend north of 3 grand for a new toy, it better be able to carry firewood in the back. 3) That leaves canned freeze dried like Nutristore. It is expensive, yes. But consider the value equation. It will be there. For 25 or more years, safe from pests, fallout, oxygen, Hurricane Agnes Flooding, Hugo's infrastructure demolition, neglect, freezes, stacking, transit, and smaller fires and quakes. Where do you want your protein when the power goes out for the second two weeks in a month (my father, Port St Lucy FL.) Or 6 weeks (Quebec, 2/1998) or whenever. You know all the grid parts come from China these days, right? So swallow hard, buy some, and know that the price will be much higher by the time you actually need it.
