It does the job
I use one for spreading shortening in pans and cookie sheets, and it covers the major areas with no problem. It definitely butters corn with no mess. You do have to cut some of the butter/shortening to fit inside the container, but once it's in, you can store it neatly in the fridge. I'd buy it again.

Had one of these for a long time but it got accidently melted. Was very glad to replace it.
