Q: how much line can this handle ?

They come with about 12' of nylon line on them. They can be reeled out about 10' before the spring is wound up all of the way.

Q: Are these what used to be the "White" brand?

Made by same company they have a defrant type of trigger and the whites spring is not stainless so u have to oil it

Q: I know nothing about these so forgive me if this is a dumb question.... can you only catch one fish and then it is done? or reset and reused?

You can reset and reuse these many times and as long as they're taken care of they will last a long time. Also they are portable and most people use these hung in the low branches of trees in the water you pull the line out,set the latch and bait them. t as h he fish will come along grab the bait and the spring sets it and keeps it tight until you come to check it. I run yo-yos in my kayak.
